Mostly because the places that gave weird scores to Halo weren't big-name sites like Gamespot. Transversely, I don't expect R&C devs to care what GamesTM thinks giving it a 6/10.
The graphics could use some work, but the physics and destructability are where it's at.
Actually, he's not, it's basic principles of capitalism and supply and demand. If you have a competitor, you're constantly forced to release either a better or cheaper product to remain a candidate in whatever industry you represent. By having two formats, they must keep trying to outdo each other, which includes lowering prices. That's why a monopoly is bad, because if you control the entire market share of a product, you can place whatever price you want on your product and people won't hav...
Okay then, you work on a wonderful piece of art for a few years straight, then have someone tell you it's mediocre at best. Game developers aren't iron-willed Gods who can absorb criticism like a black hole. They're people.
Kinda reminds me of that Halo 3 game. It was just like the other Halo games with better graphics. I played it for the first time the other night (Halo 3). Yes, ripping up a turret is fun. Physics are great. It does not deserve a 10.
I want to play it, but at the same time I feel overrun with FPS games. Maybe a few like Uncharted or Gears PC will make me feel like playing FPSs again.
D3, but only if there is a single player and it's free online. I refuse to pay for online play a la WoW. I paid for the game, that should be good enough.
WTF, Nancy Drew? Didn't realize it was that much in demand...
You should upgrade that CPU. It's the bottleneck of your system.
I have almost the same setup as that guy (7950GX2, Core 2 Extreme @ 3.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM). I hope it doesn't suck as badly for me.
Gamespot Guy # 1:"Crap! There's NOTHING wrong with the game. How can I justify a bad review. No multiplayer? No, we didn't mark Bioshock down for it... There's just so much variety, it's amazing!"
Gamespot Guy # 2:"Yeah... Maybe a little TOO much variety..."
*both look at each other and laugh maniacally, not understanding how dumb that argument sounds to real humans*
@pete below: lol, I could see that conversation too. I watche...
I just gotta say it every time I see the comparison... Lair wasn't that bad. It wasn't 9 territory, but I would understand an 8.
Thank you for being a gamer and not a fanboy. AAA is in the eye of the beholder, not the eye of the Metacritic. Bubbles for you.
You don't own a PS3 do you? Nor have you played a R&C game before, obviously. Of course, it could depend on your definition of AAA. You could be a dipsh*t like TheMart and only call a game AAA if it's metacritic rating is above 90, or you could be a real gamer and call a game AAA if you feel like it was a great experience and you got your money's worth. I personally like the second definition, and going by it, there are at least 5 AAA games out for the PS3.
Also, just because a ga...
Downloadable mainstream content is at least another generation away. Realize that, even within the US, there is still a huge percentage of the population who doesn't yet have a broadband connection, let alone one fast enough to realistically download full HD movies. And outside of the US, it's even slower. It's very small-minded to assume that everyone should just start downloading movies because you and I can. Physical media formats will still be around for at least another generation as far...
The majority of 'gamers' don't read about stuff like this, and it's been shown that the majority of games are still bought by parents and family members who don't really know much about the systems. There's gonna be a lot of pissed of people if a great games comes out on HDDVD. It's not like releasing a new SKU, it's like releasing a new system altogether.
Except for the fact that the add-on doesn't have the bandwidth to run a game smoothly from it. Try again later...
There's an article about it in the new GI. It looks awesome, and coming from the creator of Psyconauts and Day of the Tentacle, I have no doubt that it will be. Metalocalypse: The Game... That's what it looks like.
Those of us who DO have a nice sound system CAN tell. I'd be pretty pissed off if I had bought an HDDVD player only to have one of the biggest titles not support the sound system I pretty much bought exclusively for HD movies.
That's because Steve Jobs is apparently some sort of magical wizard from the future.
