One of the most ignorant statements ever made. Halo is in NO WAY, as in NO F'ING WAY IN ALL OF HOLY HELL, the best game ever made. Is it good? Yes. Is it great? Perhaps, depending on who you are. Is is the BEST GAME EVER MADE? No. God no. That's like saying Hendrix was the greatest guitarist of all time. He was good, but if he hadn't died in such a rockstar-esqe manner, I doubt many people would remember him today. Same with Halo. Halo - hype machine = Good FPS or Great Console FPS.
1.2... you're an idiot. Remember that PS3 devs didn't even have access to the scalar algorithm for the PS3 until recently. They HAD to make the games run natively, or they wouldn't run in HD at all.

Who makes system hardware that can't run under it's own normal operating conditions? My roomate is afraid to leave his box on for more than 4 hours at a time. I've had my PS3 on for 6 months... folding all day when I'm not home, no less.

Does this really surprise anyone? Game Playing + Long Hours = Heat. Heat = Warping Motherboard. Warping Motherboard = GPU pins pulling out. GPU pins pulling out = RROD. Therefore... by the transitive property... Gameplay + Long Hours = RROD. Seriously... those new Premium systems with HDMI had better have a smaller form factor. Why hasn't there been a class action suit yet?

Yeah... buying a new console and buying a new controller are two TOTALLY different things. I can still use the new controller with my old PS3... it's not like I can rip the HDMI off of the new 360 and put it on my old one. Seriously... every gen has new controllers come out for them... not so often do the actual graphical output functionalities change.

Funny... my keyboard and mouse don't rumble, and I've been playing FPSs on my computer just fine for years... The only place I ever missed rumble was in Motorstorm.

lol, Carmack said the same thing about multi-core processors in general. He hates new tech. Not to say he isn't a god in the gaming world, but he doesn't seem to like to "get with the times" as far as technology goes. Imagine how much further he could push his stuff if he would just embrace new technology when they come out, instead of 4 or 5 years later? Upscaled 1080p is different from native 1080p. It's like the difference between an upscaled DVD and a Blu-Ray or HDDVD. There WILL be quality lost. I don't know why it can't run at at least 720p... it doesn't look to be THAT graphically intensive. Sure it looks nice, but it really looks like Halo 2 with a pumped up poly count, some nice specular maps, and some dynamic parallax/diffusion mapping.
