How can you disagree with me? Nothing I said was even the least bit disagreeable. "I" had never seen anyone use the correct form of the word. I was saying good job. Unless you want to encourage the use of idiotic spelling or IM speak, you're an idiot. Actually, in either case, you're an idiot.

Is that what it said? I could have sworn it said "God, help us..." in the voice of the guy who had just 'died' under the bridge?

Do you just hate everything? Seriously, I've never seen a positive comment from you about anything. And in what way does it even begin to resemble Godzilla? Have you even seen it? Also, just because it "came out of the water" doesn't really mean it CAME from the water, if you understand what I mean.

I agree that the rest of the movie felt kind of like, wow, this doesn't make much sense, but when you put that in the context of "A monster from God knows where just destroyed Manhattan and everyone is dead", it makes it more believable. I just thought that one shot was pretty awesome. Also, I didn't even catch the whatever-it-was falling into the water at the end on Coney Island. The fact that it was like 2:15 by that point could have had something to do with it. I'll have to check...

Who else's favorite part was when

*SPOILER* *SPOILER*

They're taking off in the helicopter, and he's filming the monster getting bombed, and as it goes down it grasps for the front of the office building and completely just tears out all of the windows. I thought that shot was awesome.

I just have to say, congrats on using the correct spelling of "whet". I've never seen it done correctly on this site before.

Awesome movie monster. I went to the midnight showing (first time I had ever done so) with a buddy of mine. It's a very visceral experience.

*POTENTIAL SPOILER*

EDIT: Yeah, it does look a lot like the leapers/rollers.
@Below: Yeah that's exactly what happened to me. I was on fandango, trying to find times for the next day, and they had it there for 11:59. There was like 6-inches of snow and ice on the ground that night (northern Virginia), but I called my...

There is a nice primal feeling in the gut that makes you want to scream "told you so!" like an 8-year-old.

A new form of entertainment that has arisen from this whole conundrum is people who valiantly grasp at straws, trying to save HDDVD in some way that only they can see as meaningful.

It's dead, get over it, and for the love of god could someone announce some REAL game news. I'm sick of rumors and rehashed stuff. Bring on more Resistance 2-caliber s...

Pop-in was pretty bad, most noticably when he walks into the silo and the entire rocket disappears for several frames. Still, I need some way to play it, after the stupid migrant workers stole my 64 a few years back...

From a technical standpoint, the engine has a lot of room to stretch it's legs. It has a wonderful lighting engine, impressive atmospheric effects, and a nice use of diffuse maps. Whether or not they can tie a riveting story into the equation is anyone's guess at this point. But saying it looks like a ps2 game just makes you look ignorant. Look at how different colored lights cast different specular highlights on the character as he walks by them. Look at the quality of the skin, even at this...

I hope they updated the parallax mapping algorithm, patched up some of the memory leaks, and optimized the lighting engine. It would also be nice if scenery wasn't treated like characters (i.e. you have to assign boxes a 'weapon' value). A new networking core is too much to hope for until UE4...

An updated data-streaming algorithm wouldn't hurt either.

I liked the original, but there's no denying that it could have used a little more meat on it's bones. I hope they got it right this time, as I'm really looking forward to playing this.

I don't ever see Sqeunix licensing out an in-house engine for other companies to use. Licensing your engine is a very "American" practice. Square almost certainly wants to keep it for themselves, and they have every right to. Coding an engine is, without a doubt, THE HARDEST thing to do in a game development pipeline.

Having personally worked with Unreal Engine 3, I can tell you that it is a beast of an engine. You would be hard-pressed to find an engine as versatile as it is. You can modify it yourself too, but at that point you may as well write your own. The places where is is limited, however, really hold it back. The lighting is flawed, as placing more than 3 area lights in a scene really bogs it down. The texture-streaming algorithm built in to the engine is still in a infantile phase, thus the pop-i...

From a technical standpoint this is a very impressive engine. I'll be interested to see what kind of game they can build inside of it. The poly counts were sort of low, but the work they did with diffuse textures was very impressive. Skin is one of the hardest things to mimic in-game. They saved a lot of power by substituting normals for geometry on the buildings, which will increase the overall performance, which is the most important aspect of a sandbox game. I wonder if they'll license out...

As of right now, Project Offset is not coming to the PS3, but the exclusivity point is irrelevant as it IS coming to the PC, just like every other 360 game worth playing.

All I know is, I refuse to play for computer games anymore. I play it first... then, if I like it, I go and buy it. Too many disappointments for me, most notably Bioshock. I can't believe I spent money on that.

REAL fact:

I could probably build a small shed with the broken 360's JUST from people I personally know.
