So Blu-ray sold more discs because PS3 buyers actually KNEW what they had in their machines? Sorry.

Are you trying to say that MS hasn't TRIED to market in Japan? For whatever reason, the Japanese just flat out do not want the 360. As for Europe, they always have been pretty hot for Playstation.
That might have something to do with fact that most Americans don't care about soccer, and since most 360 owners are in America......you figure it out.
You do realize that Transformers got a 5 out of 5 for audio. Yes it was DD+, but it was encoded at the 1.5 mbs and not the 645kbs like most DD+ have been.
Ok, I should not have said "all" Blu-ray supporters. But anyone stating that HD-DVD players are "useless" is completely false.
I just have no respect for people who feel the need to gloat.
I can only assume that you have never bought or will buy an HD-DVD player.
But if the reverse had happened, and Warner went HD-DVD, then how in the hell would owning a Blu-ray player be useless? Wouldn't Blu-ray still have exclusive support for their format from two other studios? Wouldn't every current and future release still work?
And if in the end, even if all studios went either Blu or HD, every Blu-ray or HD-DVD player will STILL upconvert SD-DVDs.
This "your HD-DVD player is now useless" shows the level of intelligence that Blu-ray supporters have always had.
ANY HD-DVD player will continue to work with all current and FUTURE releases of HD-DVDs and SD-DVDs.
This war is nothing like VHS/BETA where a third common format could be played in all players.
HD-DVD actually IS the successor to DVD. (DVD forum voted for it)
Why would anyone return a perfectly good machine? So they could spend an extra $200 to get into a different format that still may loose or at least just coexist in the end?
At the rate that high-def media is selling, Blu-ray LITERALLY sold 7 out of 10 high-def titles.:)
But do they really make Blu-ray more "consumer friendly"?
I prefer price of players and media to be the first priority.
Second is backwards compatibility.
HD-DVD does win on the entry level player, but both fail on movie prices.
HD-DVD wins in the backwards compatibility department with the Combo format (but it has limited releases and it is more expensive). But at least it allows only ONE purchase of a movie to play in all players...
That only Blu-ray recorders and possibly the PS3 will be able to read these discs.
They have pushed the capacity of each layer to 17 gigs.
This is why the triple-layer Twin format will have 5 gigs of SD DVD and 34 gigs of HD-DVD.
Since when did paying $98 for an HD-DVD/dvd player become a bad thing? Anyone can still buy the same titles on SD-DVD and watch them upscaled.
This isn't like game systems where titles are completely exclusive.
Average consumers who don't play games FAR outnumber gamers who watch movies.
Blu-ray is depending on a "gaming system" to win, while HD-DVD is depending on actual stand-alone players.
the PS3 is made in China and Taiwan(controlled by China).

If a 25 gig recordable Blu-ray costs $18, then what will those mythical 200 gig discs cost? $150-200?
By the time Blu-ray can make the 200 gig in any quantity, you might as well buy a 1 TB hard drive for half the price.
And just what are you doing? Oh yeah, just stating facts.....riiiight.:)
You won? I believe that Warner won by getting a ton of benefits from Sony.
