I guess having a "next-gen, super capacity, space is no longer a problem" Blu-ray disc didn't make HS any longer either.
They probably shouldn't have put 10 gigs of sound on it and focused more on game length.

I thought I could just calmly wait till mid-week to go pick up Halo 3 next week, but I may need to actually go get in line with the more vids and reviews popping up recently.
Halo 3 will sell more copies in 3 hours than your "better online multi-player" game has in 3 weeks.

I could be childish like you and say that the PS3 is a waste of money. But I won't, because if someone has the money and can justify it to themselves, then what do you care? Just like what you have and leave it alone.
Also, I do seem to remember a pricedrop, Bioshock, and the new Elite is available in Europe that may have had a hand in increasing sales. It isn't JUST Halo.
Your "Germany, Spain, and other Europe is PS3 territory" only sold roughly 800 more units. COMBINED!
The 360 sold over 4500 more units in France ALONE.
The only "PS3 territory" that really matters is Japan where they actually buy enough consoles to make a difference.
Anyone who continues to say that HD-DVD is dead obviously can't count very good.
Selling roughly 300,000 discs a month on BOTH formats means that high def discs have a loooooong way to go to even begin to claim any kind of victory.
--Take the movie 300 for example, it sold 160,000 Blu-ray discs and 80,000 HD-DVD discs in one week. This was by far the best single high-def movie to date.
--Now standard dvd sold more than 7 million in the same week! Hmmmmm,

The ONLY reason that the 360 jumped in sales last month had to be because of Halo 3 and $50 drop.
It had nothing to do with Madden 08 or Bioshock. Riiiiiiiight.
Just wait until Sept. numbers come out. I have a feeling that the 360 may sell more than the Wii( at least for one month)

I guess what you don't understand is that every new PS2 sold is not necessarily a future PS3 owner.
PS3 sales are COMPETING with PS2. Yes, all the money still goes to Sony,but these new owners seem to be focused on price.(If they weren't, they would buy a PS3 and just play the old games)
Next year (as you say), which system will be in a better situation to offer next gen games for significantly less? The 360 or the PS3?

This isn't a car race and Blu-ray doesn't set where the finish line is.
As long as consumers can buy HD-DVD players and HD-DVD movies are still being produced, NO ONE can say that Blu-ray is the winner.
Remember, high-def formats only account for less than 5% of the total disc market.
