What Nikki Fenke(and most others) don't know is that she is using flawed Nielson's VideoScan numbers.
Fact 1: Wal-mart hasn't supplied numbers to Nielson since july 2001.
Fact 2: Wal-mart sells almost 40% of all DVDs
Fact 3: Wal-mart does sell HD-DVD.
Do 'ya think that Paramount might actually be more correct than this report is trying to portray?
Walmart accounts for nearly 45% of ALL dvd purchases. This will help HD-DVD in a big way.
that none of them will play on the new 40 gig PS3 that Sony is trying to move this season.
Toshiba announced one back on May 29th of this year! It was co-developed with Alpine Electronics.
So why don't you get your head out of your PS3/Blu-Ray butt and check your facts.
then how is it that Transformers sold more copies than any other hd format for its first week? Yes that does mean Blu-ray.
but I own a 360, so I will be purchasing those versions.
Besides, Banjo-Kazooie 3,fable 2,gears 2, dead rising 2 are all 360 exclusive. I also believe the GTA 4 timed exclusive is still in effect for the 360.
I am glad you won't be deciding which games are good or not.
I think GTA4, Star Wars Unleashed, UT3, Devil may cry 4, Gears 2, Fable 2, Dead Rising 2, Banjo-kazooie 3, Madden 08, Nba 2K8, and a few others may do just fine for the 360.
Besides, I WAS AGREEING THAT THE PS3 HAS GOOD GAMES!!!
I only stated that for whatever reason, they just don't seem to sell that much compared to other platforms right now.
Will that change in the future? I hope so, for Sony's sake. They have a well built machine with tons of potential. But, I also don't go by the belief that the 360 will have NO games for 2008 either.
Just calm down and buy the games you want. :)
Maddens-I am glad you buy games, so don't get offended I wasn't singling you out.
Executive-I get my info from VG CHARTZ. And as of today, there are a TOTAL of 3 games in the top 50 that are PS3 titles. For the week, the 360 sold 747,000 titles to 172,000 for the PS3.
That is not attach rate, that is just sales.
I agree about sticking with standard dvd, but for MS and Tosh to get more people interested, dropping the price of the add-on would be the easiest solution. (the add-on has the least amount of features anyway)
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
And, let me guess, whatever system you own is completely 100% original.
to just drop the price of the add-on to less than $100.
better luck next time Sony don't you?
Even with the pricedrop on the 80 gig PS3, the 360 sold over 100,000 more consoles than the PS3 last week. (VG CHARTZ)
Why? VG Chartz and NPD were virtually identicle last month.
I get sick of seeing that line as well. Of course the PS3 has games, and some look amazing! (I wish I could play Motorstorm or R:FOM)
But for some reason, PS3 owners just aren't buying games in big numbers.
Are you on the testing team for HD-DVD? Because the final compatibility test for the TL, 51 gig disc won't be out until next month. So we will all be educated on that subject soon enough.
However, IF current players are able to play them, then HD-DVD will have one advantage that Blu-ray discs will never have: the ability to play on SD-DVD player.
The twin-format design has the DVD and HD-DVD layers all on one side (no combo format flipping), allowing HD-DVD owner...
Is that everyone knows about the 360 problems, AND it still outsells the PS3!
It is a choice. Now you can buy a $280 console that is identicle in every way to the Elite (except hard drive and color)
it must have started in southern California.

P.S. I never said Wal-mart sells 40% of HD-DVDs, just DVD sales.
But they do sell Hd-DVD, and they are available on-line. Now Wal-mart has 4300 stores in the States, they woul only need to sell about 20 HD discs per store to easily make the 190,000 number very believeable
