As many have already commented, Sony just need to stick to the formula, make great single player games free from micro transactions which impact the game design.
As a massive fan of From Software, I personally really enjoy the art design in their games. The way they weave the lore of the world and characters into the visuals as well as making everything look cool and interesting puts them near the top of the list when it comes to art design in video games.
However, I have to admit that when playing through Demon Souls 2020 I couldn't help but reflect on how incredible it would be if From Software were able to improve on the tec...
I hade a great time with Thief personally, I recall the only thing that got frustrating were the regular and lengthy load times, but the stealth action was super satisfying.
I absolutely love my PS5, I was lucky to score one at launch and from the off, was enthralled.
Nay sayers can try and downplay Miles Morales, Demon Souls. Astro and Sackboy, but these games at launch were utterly incredible and with addition of Returnal, Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade along with stacks of 3rd party stuff, I have really struggled to play everything I wanted too this year. Death Stranding is going to get a hiding next after I picked it up in a sale before Christm...
I didn't like Deathloop as much as some, but there seem to be plenty for who it really clicked. Personally, I thought Psychonauts 2 was super over rated and was completely eclipsed by Ratchet & Clank, but different folks click with different games.
Actually pretty good lists I thought, I might move a few games around a bit but all of the games are pretty great.
The crazy thing is that it is already outpacing the PS4 sales for the same period even with constraints, I honestly think it would be higher than 20 million.
The popularity of the Switch is just crazy, many consoles would have seen sales slow by this point in their life cycle, Switch just keeps on going.
I can't help but wonder what sales of the PlayStation 5 would look like without the constraints on manufacturing.
Personally, I really am not keen on how Forza Horizon
5 feels to play. It has all the trappings of an arcade racer but tries to stick with a sim-lite handling model. Burnout Paradise, for example, it streets ahead in terms of gameplay in my opinion.
By a week or so, no way I'll be squeezing these two in when they release so closely.
It takes something special to make me not play a From Software title on day 1, but there is simply no way I am waiting to play this, Elden Ring will have to wait a couple of weeks.
Gagging to play this game again however, I am resolved to wait for a PS5 version which I'll happily snap up.
Don't sleep on The Artful Escape duder, it'll only take you 5 hours or so, but you'll have a grin on you fave the whole time, such a cool game.
I think I would have to hand it to Ratchet and Clank this year, what that game achieved from both a technical and artstyle perspective was astounding.
I thought Forza 5 was impressive from a technical standpoint but my favourite looking game on xbox this year was The Artful Escape (this was also probably my favourite game on Xbox this year).
From a technical standpoint, Forza is brilliant but it is ultimately just another racing game and we have had amazing visuals and photo realistic cars for a good while now. I just don't think there is anything in the artistic direction that would lead me to pick Forza over games that shine just as much from a technical achievement, but also deliver in respect of artistic style too.
Just my personal opinion though duder, have a great Christmas.
Ratchet and Clank would take the top slot for me personally. From a technical standpoint the visuals are dazzling and of course, its art direction is spectacular as well.
Honourable mention in respect of artstyle goes to my favourite game on Gamepass so far, The Artful Escape, I loved how that game looked.
I've restarted this game twice after dropping it to play other games and it still hasn't grabbed me for some reason. It has made me want to go back and get the plat on Dishonoured 2 though.
If I were gaming exclusively on Xbox, the worry I would have is what are the implications of multiplatform games barely selling on MS platforms any longer. You only have to look in this very thread to see people bragging that they don't buy games anymore.
The second issue I have with Gamepass is that all of MS first party games are littered with MT stuff and I don't care how much the usual cheerleaders argue, games in Gamepass are not free, you pay for a subscript...
Perhaps you could appreciate the devs instead, buy the game from them and cut out MS from taking their cut?
You have good taste in games squire, a very different list to mine, but all great games in their own right.
