Honestly, Sony have been up front and explained that simply cannot continue to invest in games they way they have been and then give them away for practically nothing on a streaming service.
To me, I am more than happy with Sony putting quality over pumping out more mediocre content. I can't count how many times I've seen the expression 'it's a good gamepass title' in message boards. Sums it up, pretty much.
Incredible game for sure, but if I were absolutely forced to choose, I think I might plump for Tsushima over Horizon 2 as my fave open world gamegrom Sony.
Also, Xbox are not differentiating between S and X is their sales figures so it stands to reason that while PS is constrained by shortages, people are picking up the S as its the only console in Europe that you can pick up whenever you feel like it, then are available everywhere.
Could not agree more about the lack of proper race event experience. I would love to have a proper track weekend experience where you run qualifying sessions and then start on a grid. I cannot help but think that the way the events are currently set up detracts from the overall experience as you are essentially always charging through the pack in quite an arcadey, unrealistic way. Its so strange really, when the devs make so much effort to give you that sim like experience.
Most of the outrage seems to stem from the usual culprits who want to take any opportunity to dogpile on Playstation, and the vitriol is absolutely ridiculous. The reality for most people who are actually playing the game is that it has the same tried and tested progression route to earn credits and add cars to their garage.

It's that attitude, that MS very much wants to encourage, which makes GP such bad news for the videogame landscape.
I am trying to avoid falling into the trap of appearing like an unreasonable defender of From Software games, but I just thought I would add a few comments. The only thing I can think of which would improve the experience for me, would be the ability to add free text to any map markers you place, otherwise, the game is pretty much perfect to me.
In my opinion Breath of the Wild really leant into the notion of exploration and viewing visual reference points in the environment or in respect of the map, a suspicious looking rock formation, body of water with an island or building. You weren't hunting down icons on a map.

Clearly its a different kind of game and tonally very different. As I said, I love like the studio and so gave high hopes that it's as good as their other work.

I personally thought this SoP was okay. There were a few games that I was personally interested in. I think a big factor many overlook is that Sony needs to cater to a far more diverse audience across the globe compared to Xbox, who are much more focused on a western audience.

I love open world games and simply have to visit every icon and tick off every quest.....its like I have open world OCD😅
As such, I am already about 50 hours into Horizon and still have a 3rd of the map completely untouched, I am absolutely loving my time with it.
I can see me puring hundreds of hours into Elden Ring too, I manage to rack up hundreds of hours on all the From games, I cannot help but replay them on NG+ etc.

I am absolutely bursting to play Elden Ring but I am determined not to rush Horizon 2. I have Elden Ring installed and ready to go, it looks absolutely incredible. I am hoping that the popularity of this game leads to a new audience going back and playing From Software's other titles as even their supposed weakest game DarkSouls 2 is still an amazing game.

We have seen earnings reports from the likes of UbiSoft which provided clear numbers showing games on Xbox sell a fraction of what they do on other platforms. There is no question in my view, that GamePass is dramatically changing the purchasing habits of Xbox users. How often do you see comments here on N4G along the lines of 'I have wanted to play 'game X' for ages, now its come to Gamepass I will play it'?

I thought I could put my playthrough on pause when my copy of elden ring turned up. Although I installed Elden Ring I still haven't touched, I simply cannot drag myself away from Horizon.
It's a fantastic game for sure.
