I think the assessment set out in this article is spot on. It was a very good conference, well paced, great looking and loaded with exciting games but, it didn't have the megaton announcements that might have caused a reaction from Sony.
Getting From Software at their conference raised a few eyebrows and Ninja Theory was quite a big deal but otherwise, there was nothing to suggest a true change of direction from MS in my opinion.
I thought this looked really cool and it was refreshing to see a racing game set in good old Blighty, I think the architecture and landscapes of the UK are very unique and make a nice change.
There were a few things that raised an eyebrow but overall, I feel like it's still the same old MS with the smoke and mirrors surrounding 'exclusives' and that is something that they need to move away from.
The only people watching E3 are serious gamers and we are not stupid enough to fall for this 50 games with 18 exclusive deals statement, so it comes across as bullshit again and is quite insulting to be honest.
I was really surprised to see...
Congrats Xbox gamers, I would urge you all to pick this game up, it really is a unique experience and in my opinion, has the best soundtrack from any game of 2017.
Pathetic, perfectly demonstrating what is wrong with this N4G community. Instead of celebrating getting a fabulous game you turn it into a childish and moreover, pointless argument.
I wouldn't feed that muck of that quality to my pooch either 😂
If there is any truth to this rumour then I believe it's indicative of how badly things are going for the XB1X.
I think it will definitely be much harder to resist at that price, you would be getting a quite incredible amount of tech for your money but I suspect Sony could easily afford to cut the price of their consoles to try and counter MS's move.
I guess the consumer wins either way if it pans out.
I agree with the sentiments of this article however, I think that success at E3 does help to built excitement and momentum for publishers so I can understand why the hype happens.
For me, I love E3, it's a week of cool news, articles and excitement about the medium that I love above all others. However, I don't consider the event in isolation, I consider the history of the companies involved, Sony for example, have 25 year track record of delivering game after game...
Personally I thought this was really cool and definitely makes me hope for the series to expand into other geographic areas and tell different stories.
Considering this has been put together by students I think it's really impressive, I think back to my time in college and what I saw of other students work and what I was capable of personally and it was nothing like this. Mind you, that was 25 years ago.....showing my age a bit 😁
If any of t...
These are students for goodness sake, this is probably part of a project undertaken as part of their coursework. Perhaps you are a better graphic artist/3D modeller etc, but if so, perhaps you should be more supportive.
Better than most of the 'news' you find on this cesspit of a site.
I would rather see this kind of thing, in celebration of games and the ability of aspiring artists and developers, than the constant stream of negative opinion pieces and clickbait articles.
I don't understand how these companies keep getting it wrong. The excitement and goodwill garnered by Sony at their PlayStation events over the last 5 or 6 E3 events is not a mystery to anyone, show games and gameplay and you will have an interested audience.
MS took note early on and copied the format and their conferences became more successful, how have the other companies not followed suit. Surely they are aware of the reaction to their conferences every year, the...
Christ almighty, that was a car crash. Not withstanding the terrible pacing and filler, it was the heavy handed earnestness from all involved that was so cringeworthy.
The hosts trying to generate hype and excitement around generally awful game videos made my toes curl. I think that the genuine emotion shown at Ubi's conference last year was well received by the community and EA were trying to engender the same goodwill this year with everyone trying to show emotion ...
While the conference was utterly dreadful, Andrea Rene is actually a legit gamer and has been around for years on various game sites and podcasts, she currently co-hosts Kinda Funny and What's Good Gaming.
I would suggest you reign in the stereotyping a little, she does genuinely love videogames, she is doing what she can with some pretty rotten material. Having said that, I do find her a little annoying occasionally on podcasts but generally, she is pretty cool.
I adore my Switch and consider myself to be a fan of Nintendo games, but this is clearly obsurd commentary from an individual who has is incapable of separating objectivity and subjectivity.
Incidentally, as a 43 year old, I like many others, missed the whole Pokemon phenomena, of course the games are popular, but I don't think one game from Ninty can be considered as more important than all of the exclusives in combination with 3rd party releases that have been availab...
As soon as I see a negative title I immediately know it will have Gamingbolt's stink all over it.
And this sums up why digital foundry, despite their undoubted expertise, are completely irrelevant to anyone but the ardent fanboy.
I don't doubt the veracity or accuracy of their findings, but I do doubt the importance they place on them, we are talking of frame drops for a couple of seconds which are barely noticeable yet they have to spin it into a story for clicks. I miss the days when they covered tech like processors and GPU's, I unsubscribed from them a long...
I am sure I will get some stick for this, but I still find it fascinating that there is so much interest in this title. While I enjoyed the 1st game well enough, it's combat was pretty poor and I found it got repetitive after maybe 15 hours or so and the second game was generally considered to be a poor follow up.
I can understand anticipation for sequels when you have earlier games of the quality of Gears of War, HALO, Uncharted or Last of Us, but I personally feel i...
I feel this place went down hill quickly once they got rid of the bubbles system.
I showed respect to others, attempt to foster good discussion and was rewarded with more bubbles than I needed whilst the morons were left with just 1 comment to try and vent their bile and venom. Bring back bubbles I say.
The UK has some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, Scotland and Wales (my homeland) are beautiful beyond words and you rarely see it represented in videogames. I thought it looked brill.
