Somebody buy this guy a pony. He's written the most sensible articles about FFXIII of anyone on the whole damn internet.
Edit: And I've got a feeling he's one of the only "reviewers" who's actually played the whole thing.
For dudes like me who only play single-player games, Pachter might be right. Not because of reflexes, but because SP games are becoming less and less the focus of the industry. The only game I play online is Demon's Souls. :)
Agreed. I've gone on media blackout for FFXIII and The Last Guardian (which may sound weird but I want to hit that game fresh).
Rather than QTE's, this reminds me of old Lucasarts adventure games where you had to click on the correct pixel or combine two things to with an object in the world. Which actually makes me MORE excited. I loved those old adventure games.
Not enough gory face-stabbing for you, homicide? Don't worry, I'm sure there will be 100 other games to buy this year where you can shoot/eviscerate people or whatever.
We all know that sex sells, but we also need to remember that violence sells even more. So which is more perverted?
It's flamebait because the title is taking a stab at the PS3 to get Sony fans all riled up. And if you scroll up and down this thread, you'll see it's working.
Edit: When I say "taking a stab at the PS3" I mean that the title makes it sound like the PS3 somehow ruined the dev cycle rather than the company itself making a decision to switch platforms partway through development.
I've had this preordered for weeks now. :) And I promise I will buy even the lamest DLC mission packs that Square can come up with (I will draw the line at new costumes thought).
I have nothing but love for FFXIII. It's Wada I can't stand. He's doing to Square Enix what The Spirits Within did to Final Fantasy movies.
I know everyone's blaming MS and the DVD9 format for DLC--especially after Square promised we would get the "complete" game on the disc--but I think I'll blame Yoichi Wada instead because he's an idiotic d-bag.
Upgraded from 40gb to 250gb a couple months ago. Totally worth the $50.
It is good news. I picked this game up over the weekend and got a few hours in, but stopped playing to wait for the patch. Looks like I'll be back in it tonight!
Ginger green tea. Keeps the mind and reflexes sharp for farming black phantoms.
Pre-ordered tonight. I've never taken a day off from work to play a game, but...
No thanks. 3D gives me an insta-headache. HD > 3D.
Interestingly, they lip-synched the FMV's too, not just the in-engine cutscenes. I'm hoping that when they rerendered those scenes, they didn't lower the video res. to save space and make PS3 and 360 experiences identical.
Of course it's cheesy! It's Final Fantasy. Cheesy, melodramatic, angsty. That's half the fun. :)
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction actually did use the motion controls, frequently and to great effect: halo drops, gliding wings, and the laser drill spring to mind.
I'm sorry to everyone hating this game, but it looks FREAKING INCREDIBLE.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am a Final Fantasy Fanboy. March 9 can't come soon enough.
"If u a true rpg gamer buy demon souls."
I did buy Demon's Souls and it's my favorite PS3 RPG so far (followed closely by Valkyria Chronicles). However, any "true rpg gamer" will also be excited about FFXIII, regardless of random internet hate.
Wow, and here I was thinking I couldn't dislike Wada more than I already do. It seems like he wants to turn one of the largest and best known Japanese developers into a generic western one. The video game industry need East, West, and everything in between for the sake of variety and innovation. I honestly can't see why Square's Japanese shareholders haven't run this guy out on a rail yet.
Edit @ above: Sakaguchi was fired from Square after FF: The Spirits Within. He probab...
Only XIII days left until preorders arrive in the mail.
