Exactly. It worked for MS but my point was while MS was focusing on simply getting established 3rd party games that were PS2 exclusive, Sony was focused on building their first party portfolio and broadening the diversity of their library. In no way was I implying that following the PS2 blueprint wasn't a good move, I'm just saying that MS should have done that while simultaneously scooping up some first party devs.

looked really really nervous at the Sony press conference. I don't know how much of that was due to speaking in front of a large crowd and how much was due to him knowing that he's eating crow in front of gamers everywhere after dogging the PS3 to no end.
if it wasn't aimed to impress Gamers then MS should have held a separate showing for it. They could've done a special on NickJr or the Cartoon network. E3 is all about the gamers. That's why everyone ridiculed Nintendo that past few years for giving us a vitality sensor and Wii fit.
This is what happens when MS tries to innovate. They've basically made all their success by copying Sony's formula with the PS2. And what has been MS' big mega-ton the last few E3's? Basically saying that a once PS2 3rd party exclusive is now coming to the Xbox. Think about that. Their big news has always been that they're also getting a game and not that a game is only available on their console.

Kinect is "new" and "revolutionary" in the sense that this is the first time I can recall one of the major console manufacturers expending what MS is going to expend in advertising, marketing, and basically making this their future. Sony had the tech out last gen but, c'mon, they never really pushed the eye toy or the PS3 eye to the level that MS is pushing Kinect. Right now the novelty of it is selling. But I want to see what happens when it's been out for a month or two. Will there be some element of buyer's remorse? You know what you're getting into with the Move. It's essentially a Wii-clone except with greater accuracy. However, Natal...ummm...Kinect is something totally new in gaming. No controller? It's enticing for some and downright confounding for others. Time will tell with all these Wii copycats. It'll be interesting ...
I read somewhere it was pretty good about recognizing the commands even when the person speaking had an accent. But hey, once it's out in the wild we'll get a slew of funny vids. Youtube is going to explode with kinect satires.

imagine how funny it would be if Kinect had some sort of hardware ala the RROD that caused it to disobey your voice commands and do what it wants. It'd be like Skynet taking control of your Xbox.

but they didn't have to do much to impress me. KZ2 is still breathtaking. All they had to do was clean up some stuff and maybe improve the dialogue a bit. Curious to see whether the main character becomes a Helghan at the end (as the initial trailer hinted at).
Madden should really go to a subscription service. Buy the game for 39.99 and pay 19.99 annually for constant updates. I stopped buying Madden because I realized I was basically getting the same game every year except with new names on the back of the jersey. Now I wait until the new Madden comes out to pick up the preceding year's Madden.
I really don't think we're going to see Resistance 3 until next year's E3. God, if that game has visuals on par with KZ2 and Insomniac makes up for that horrendous story of R2 they could really have a hit on their hands.

E3 was great this year. With the exception of MS and Ubisoft, the conferences were great. Hope Nintendo doesn't revert back to vitality sensor type shows for next years E3.
