Maybe Square will see that it makes no sense to make PS3 owners wait when the PS3 version is going to outsell the 360 version 3 to 1.
Ya know, for a site allegedly run by PS3 fanboys it's kinda funny that the first post in PS3 articles is usually by someone that's not a PS3 fanboy.
The guy is passionate about his work. He had to not only build a new engine designed for the PS3, but he also had to ensure that it was up to his personal standard. It would've been easy to just put out GT5 w/o ensuring it was what we all expected and it would've still sold millions. hell, they could've patched it several times by now to fix bugs. I'm glad they took the time. Not like there wasn't a $hit ton of games to play in the meantime.
and you can take that to the bank!
And by that I mean that 600 bucks wasn't reflective of the system's value at launch (to many people at least). Sony should also do their best to avoid the slow climb in terms of software. For a good many months there weren't that many games on the PS3 (hence "PS3 has no games"). I always had plenty to play, but people wanted that "killer app." So next time I think Sony should launch the PS4 with at least one killer app. Shouldn't be that hard because with a...
you really don't have to worry. I think that's why Sony is doing this to begin with. It's positive press and it probably won't cost them anything substantial because the system's about as reliable as can be.
I own a launch 60gb. I don't think the coverage goes to me because people in my position are more likely to use this warranty than a slim owner.
Weird thing for Sony is that once I get plus I'm never buying another PSN game because there's a good chance I'll get it for free because of my plus membership (see Wipeout HD).
OT it really does suck if a plus member didn't get an invite. That's the point of this thing, no?
Feel free to do a google search on it. I don't want to try and quote him but to paraphrase, he basically called for a recall of the system. That was a pretty harsh and fanboyish comment for a studio head to make. Here's hoping it doesn't take Valve too long to get over the PS3 learning curve.
Edit: Here's the link for you. http://www.esca...
it wasn't as simple as Gabe simply stating they didn't have the resources to develop for the PS3. I think most people would have understood that (fanboys excluded). Gabe, however, made some flat out derogatory and somewhat extreme comments in regards to the system's archetecture and that Sony should just recall the system and essentially start over. Lets not mince words here. Lets also not make Gabe out to be some magnanimous guy by going on stage at the Sony press conference. I...
but at least now it appears Valve will not only develop the game itself, but PS3 owners will also receive integrated steam support that's unavailable on any other console.
Amazing what an apology can do to repair a relationship. That and some exclusive features. Valve was the pretty girl across the room that didn't want to dance because she had us misunderstood. Now that she's gotten to know us better we can finally start things off right.
because these two knew one another before all this. How else would one of the guys know where the other lived? I know a lot of you dream of pulling this sort of Jay and Silent Bob type stuff, but you never know exactly who is going to answer that door (assuming you find out where someone lives) and who or what else may be at their home.
Crazy story but next time both guys need to take advantage of mute a player, block a player, and then starting a new match.
Tor has an agenda. The Warzone has a firm no sales talk policy but when it's positive 360 sales then it's nothing but sales talk. Gamescom was huge this year and they didn't even open the show with it? Smh. Worst part is these guys have the nerve to say they're fair and objective. The Warzone where every episode is a war on all things Sony.
No need to make it personal. I respect all that Tor's accomplished (e.g., getting a site, going to events, etc), but I stopped going to his site because the following just got old:
1. The double standards: We don't talk sales unless it's positive Wii or 360 sales. If you are (or were) an avid listener you know that when the PS3 sells/sold well Tor spends 2 seconds on sales. When the PS3 doesn't sell as well it's a whole segment.
2. The con...
Just wow. Between what we know is coming, what's already announced as in the works, I can't believe Sony still has more games to announce. Guess that's why it's beneficial to have some 1st party studios.
Yeah you can brag on your gamerscore just like you can brag on your level in trophies, but with trophies you can right off the bat look at a bud's platinums. How many platinums you have is probably what people look at first when they look at your score. Achievements have no equivilant because, as you said, it's just one big score. Props to MS for bringing the achievement system to consoles, and props to Sony for innovating it.
Problem with Bioshock 2 (for me) was that you're supposed to be a Big Daddy and yet you don't feel any different. Sure you can dual wield plasmids and the drill/rail gun, but other than that it was like you were a regular human char. Part that was maddening was when a splicer hit me with a golf club and it took a lot of energy. If I'm a big daddy the last thing that should hurt is a friggin golf club.
Ken Levine seems to have a knack for this stuff. Bioshock 2 wa...
Demolition Man or Et Tu Brute both from Battlefield Bad Company 2. Demolition Man is maybe the most tedious trophy you'll ever try to get. Basically blowing up building hoping your enemies die in the building's collapse rather than the explosion. And you have to do that 20 times!
Et tu Brute is just as bad. You have to stab a friend 5x. Prob is when a bud joins your game they're automatically placed on your team. You basically have to add a player on the opposing...
A lot of you keep pointing to the lack of character import from ME1 to ME2 hurting the PS3 version. Well, does it really hurt a guy that's never had it? As a PS3 only owner, I didn't know how addictive achievements were until Trophies were added. You don't miss something you never had. And besides, Bioware seems to be doing everything to fill PS3 players in on the backstory and providing enough of a base to make us familiar with the game's story.
Honestly can...
I haven't bought a videogame based solely off the ad since...well....Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES. Needless to say (for those in my age group), I learned my lesson.
My only gripe would be that some videogame commercials don't even show a hint of actual gameplay. Others advertise a game that's one genre like it were another (see HALO War). But hey, if you plop down 65 bucks based on a commercial where you don't even see the game, well I hope your a grand...
I was excited for this game until I saw who was developing it. Great dev studio but, as a PS3 only owner, I was concerned. I'll def wait for the reviews and maybe a rental before picking it up. Game looks dope though.
