I hate trueskill (not really, but kinda). Let me tell you why.
I loved Halo 3 while I was in the low levels. Getting a steak dinner every team deathmatch is tons of fun. Sure enough, after I ranked up a bit (high 40's) I found that I'd hit my skill cap. That is to say, I had to fight with everything I had to pull out a win. Im not a great halo player after all. I was glad when they reset the rankings so I could relax for awhile.
It gets stressful havi...
@Winter
I completely agree, I don't know why they feel the need to add matchmaking to games... Gears 1 had a better system than Gears 2. Let me pick my gametype, don't assign me to one vaguely similar to the one I actually want.
@Explosion
I agree, strafing happens a lot more in games than it would in real life. I can't say I really have a problem with it though as I always felt it was a substitute for the inability to look one direction while running another. Since in real life we don't always run the same direction we are looking.
I always wonder about this. From one side its interesting to consider a possibly untapped market, on the other, at what point are we just making vague stereotypical assumptions?
HipHop might want to not start his show speaking in hyperboles and absolutes, because at first I was very irritated, thinking he was saying that Carmack and his engine couldn't compete. Later he restates his position as "Rage (and Carmack) are great, it just impressive that someone is showing similar visual fidelity". That is a reasonable stance. The beginning of the show seems completely irrational however.
Just my two cents.
Bluray is just a disk technology though, if it failed it was purely due to low adoption rates or a different, more adopted standard. 3d however, is something new (after all the difference between a bluray and a DVD is pretty much storage capacity) is something that not everyone cares for, and there are some of us who get sick watching it. That said, I don't care if it does or doesn't fail. As long as I don't have to buy a 3dTV to play my games than I say have fun with it for all t...
@shinGino
I'm not sure I can agree there. Not about cliff stating it was used for reference, but the way the camera is implemented in Uncharted is much looser than gears (in gears you can never look at the camera) which I think lends to tighter feeling shoot outs. Of course, the Uncharted style camera works much better for platforming and displaying environmental objects (spike traps etc.). I don't think anyone did it better, rather they had to pick the camera scheme ...
Yup, Obama's the reason people are lazy. When bush was in office there wasn't a single lazy american... ever.
Thats why Gears is nice, no autoaim. Also, was it just me, or did the autoaim in MW2 cause you to miss shots all the time?
Id be very impressed if an iPhone could run Crysis on max at any resolution. Wouldn't it be sweet if handhelds were actually that powerful?
Also, if the 3ds was even close to as powerful as a 360/ps3 our hands would catch on fire from the heat output. That, or it would cost like 1500 dollars because they're using a 12nm processor core.
At what point will people just start chalking things up to personal preference? I play my 360 more than my PS3, but thats because I like Gears of War a lot. Oh, and the Thumbsticks (but PS3 has a far better D-PAD). Again, this is MY opinion.
CGOODNO had a great comparison. They go tit for tat on many things, most of the time if boils down to what YOU want to play and how YOU want to play it. These articles have been getting old for a long time. Also, thanks to those that post...
@Bullet
I was thinking the same thing. I played CoD online for a bit, but I sure as hell didn't buy xbox live for it. I got it so that I could play any game online.
I really hate this guy. That smug ass grin makes me want to never buy an activision product again. Which, wouldn't be hard if it weren't for Blizzard.
No, I get why they wouldn't talk about those things, they rarely ever do. What I'm saying is, I wish what they had to talk about wasn't their focus on motion controls. I've never liked motion controls, and in TP the usage was minimal and worked well. Zelda's focus has never really been on combat. The fighting is always good but its not really the focus of the game. I just worry that they're putting so much time into the combat system that the game will lean more heavil...
Well, I don't like what I've seen. I say this because my fear is that they're focused far to much on motion controls (which I don't care about) and not so much on what we all expect from Zelda. So yes, Im hating a bit on what Ive seen, but I never hated on Wind Waker (its one of my favorites) but I did express concern over twilight princess and it's one of my least favorite. Thats not saying its a good game, but the Zelda standard of quality is pretty high.
Also, for what ever reason, I think its more socially acceptable for men to be over weight than women. Im not condoning this, but its in odd thing to consider. Im yet to see a girl wearing a "No Fad-Dudes" shirt. However, that would be pretty funny.
Im not defending lamback, but come on. Ive taken 3 years of Japanese and it's not exactly easy to pick up.
Also, I think (and you don't have to agree) that Japan has their own set of design problems that differ from Western games design issues. We have a surplus of mindless shooters, but they also have a surplus of games that revolve around mindless grinding.
Like they said in the interview, if we could just combine our best ideas, that would be mone...
Also... Europe....
Oh and Australia.
Especially in Africa.
Yup, definitely in Africa.
I don't think sony deserves very much credit. I think its the developers that legitimize it. For example, Brazilian mentioned two games. Sony didn't make either of those. Just like we don't claim movies are legitimate because someone invented the DVD format, I don't think any console developer deserves credit. If any company deserves credit I'd say nintendo does, if for no other reason than the fact that they actually make games.
Not necessarily true,
Halo Reach will likely (if the beta is any indication) have very fun multiplayer. Also, there are those of us that like the experience, which is fairly unique in shooter terms, that Gears offers.
Im not going to say I don't gripe about Gears 2 all the time, but that doesn't mean Im not excited for the third.
Wait, was that a joke about the box art? Because I didn't get your comment, then I went to the official website and was like "Holy shit is that akira?!"
