Im with logikil on this one. I'm not saying theres anything wrong with long games but look at the games you guys are listing. It's much easier to pull out tons of time in an RPG where random encounters and minimal environmental interaction are standard affair. For those games the important thing is a good combat system and item upgrades (and cutscenes too, but those are somewhat unsubstantial when compared to overall time). How do RTS games not need very much power? If anything, they're the ones that need the most. The reason the graphics are never quite up to FPS (or other genre) standards is because there can literally be 200+ units on screen all requiring complex AI and pathfinding. Not to mention all the effects that come along with their attacks.

The game where this is not the case is a firm indication that the dev just did not care a lick about the PC version lol.

As I understand it, it would likely be a fine. I haven't read enough to know what the fine would be or how severe. I think the big aim is to put the pressure on the retailers since I think the fine would go to them instead of the employee (who like you said has already lost his job) I could be wrong, but I think thats where they're taking it.
Most retailers have that set in place. It is not however a law in most states. So what the law would add is a state mandated punishment for the sale of M-games to minors etc.
I find it hard to believe Sweeney is a jerk. For one he's brilliant and strikes me as a complete introvert. However, I've never met him, but hes the man behind the engine and even took it upon himself to come out and apologize. Likely because he was embarrassed at the impression this would give people about his company.

Im curious how people think old console gaming was so much more innovative? There are games for all shapes and sizes now. Maybe they aren't the ones selling 3million+ but they're still being made because they still make money. This is like the same argument against movies, yes hollywood makes very cookie cutter films, but thats why there's indie ventures to fill the void left by the high budget flicks.
Does anyone else get irritated with the reaction towards girls in multiplayer games? I tend to dislike having girls in the games I play because the immaturity switches from laughable trash talking to either A) Exceptionally misogynistic comments or B) Pathetically hounding after a voice through a microphone.

Yeah, I think its safe to say that Blizz is among the devs that know what they're doing. They're lucky that they can get away with their development cycles. A lot of studios would die to have that kind of creative freedom.
I really did not care for LBP, felt more like a cool level editor than a fun game. Keep in mind this is my opinion, Im not saying its bad, I just didn't like it. (I can feel my bubbles disappearing with this comment)
How is uncharted a Gears wannabe?! They play completely differently. The only similarity is the 3rd person shooter aspect which still feels very different between both games.
Also, Uncharted 2's single player was better than Gears. I give the multiplayer crown to Gears though (not gears 2, screw that noise)
Look at Chair (The company that did Shadow Complex). Cliff was a Design Consultant. Epic didn't make the game, Chair did. Similarly, that's the relationship with People Can Fly. Note in the interview they said they still have complete creative freedom.
Also, PCF did painkiller which was a great simple shooter when it came out so they're an established studio.
Hmmm, I wasn't that impressed by that conan video. Not that FF14 is that impressive either. I do think that fatality vid made Conan stand out a bit more than other MMO's.
Is there any actual information about this game? As near as I can tell it looks exactly like FF11, which was cool when it came out but now... no bueno.
