Ive been fudging around with the UDK and it has the updated lighting engine they changed since the release of GeoW2. Im not sure if the 360 is powerful enough to show it off, but if Gears 3 saw a PC release it would look incredible. The new lighting system is just wonderful.

Im glad cmrbe says something ridiculously fanboyish and gets a 5:1 agree ratio. Then, kurylo3d says something worthwhile and factual (unreal 3's new deferred lighting implementation) and gets a 1:3 agree ratio.

N4G may have a new look but the same jerks are still here.

If PS3 owners are truly a more mature crowd (and I believe this to a certain extent) I make the following conjecture:

PS3 fanboys, and the way they handle arguments and confrontation, are painfully similar to the Tea Baggers here in the States. When they're on top (ie. Bush Administration / Bungie goes multiplat) they don't care when people disagree because they "know" they're right, plus they're on top. When they're on the bottom (Obama / 360 has more units sold) then ...

I couldn't have said it any better.

I also really don't like Apple so I would fear that Id come off with some bias, but that article is chalk full of facts about the issue.

Apparently it was higher than what my tests showed. Thanks for the link blackknight, very informative.

@Rumble

I completely agree with you. I had put the game down until they patched it the first time and then enjoyed it much more. I didnt know they had patched it more since.

It wasn't weightiness. It was lag. Weightiness would be attributed to acceleration (it takes time to build momentum) which is fine. Before the first patch there was 127ms of input lag. Thats not how guns feel in real life. My mind doesn't wait to start moving my hands, if what I'm holding is heav...

The only thing that bugged me about KZ2 was the voice acting. I would like to see some better work in that realm. Natko and Riko's voices drove me up a freaking wall.

@BigC

Im not sure if they changed it but everything checks out. It lists 3 games and No more Heros and hitman are both their.

Welp, now it looks like I was talking to a ghost.

I think you missed my point that good graphics doesnt mean amazing gameplay or vise versa.

Also, and I don't really care because Im not saying the PS3 is less powerful that the 360, but what games are 1080p on the PS3. I think GT:5 might be? God of War wasn't, KZ2 wasn't (both were 720p). Also, I don't think you know what AA is because KZ2 did not have 16xAA. It utilized the Quincunx Anti-Aliasing technique, which is comparable to somewhere in between 2xAA and 4xAA with a blurrin...

I wonder if the guy who wrote this knows that the Unreal Engine is essentially free now with the release of UDK. Its not a full license, but nearly, and pricing for licensing can be handled post game creation which is amazing for indie developers.

@Gaylo

Does that mean you hate nearly every game previous to this console gen? I mean, I just played through Shadow of the Colossus again. That was standard def and ran at like 8 fps in parts. What about Ocarina of Time? Any of the older final fantasies? Any Metal Gear previous to 4?

Or maybe you just hate halo and think you're funny? Regardless, no one wants you here. But given that you're trolling on the internet you're probably used to that sort of reception eh?

Plain does not Mean poor playability. As an example look at nearly all the Unreal 3 maps. They were lousy with static meshes and clutter and many did not play well.

Im not saying this map is good, Ill determine that when I play it, but don't rule it out just because it looks a little plainer than some other levels.

Edit: Also, does anyone else think that elite dodge ability looks a little OP? In a game where you move as slowly as halo that seems like a huge leg up. ...

I like WoW a lot more now because Im a pvp player. I don't do many raids at all. Just 2v2 arena with a my brother. I also played vanilla WoW... can't say I miss 40 mans and needing to make a schedule in real life just to get anywhere. Maybe I wasn't "hardcore" enough but I refuse to schedule real-life time around WoW time and at 60 that made it impossible to get gear.

A buddy of mine got a 4870 from newegg a few months ago for $98. It was a pricing error... but still a very good price.

Ive had some really laggy games of Halo. All around though Id have to say its the least laggy non-dedicated game Ive played. Im actually very impressed with bungie for their network handling.

That aside, Im excited for the beta. I feel like Halo needs a re-imagining at this point and hopefully thats what they're doing with Reach.

The reason for the longer load times is the same reason Bungie advised against installing the game to the hard drive. Loading maps from the hard drive into their level cache and then to memory takes longer than loading straight off the disk.

5773d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

True, but that was a Microsoft game not Bungie.

As an advocate of ATI graphics cards (AMD processors to a lesser extent) and someone who thinks apple products are silly I really don't want to see this happen.

I don't care if apple uses ATI's products, but buying them out is a whole different story. I mean, who wouldn't want a iRadeon? Now with twice the cost and no DirectX support!

I hope they do this better than any other game out there ever has... Ive always hated under-water areas.
