A lead start always helps. MS figured the best way to capture market share from Sony was to decide exactly when the next-gen started, which was genius.
When Sony said the next-gen doesnt start until the PS3, it was a symbolic statement. They of course knew that the 360 was indeed a next-gen console, but didnt want to give MS the power to say when the next-gen started.
Sony had to show that they were indeed still the top dawg, but trust me, Sony is not stupid. MS...
So now DIVX will use H.264? Im a bit confused...why not just use Quicktime then, as I have been making h.264 QT's with for quite some time.

I doubt it will ever be as good as a Mac to me, but I can at least tolerate Windows now.
Many of you are too funny...being one of the world's largest companies, the Xbox brand is not MS' bread and butter believe it or not, and the impending release of Windows 7 is a far bigger thing for them to focus on right now, especially at CES.

Its a matter of opinion for sure, but if u want to be able to play online with the majority of COD players, or play Gears or Halo online at all, then yes.
Like someone pointed out earlier; why hasnt MS advertised the 360's media capabilities on TV? No mention of movies or shows or Netflix.
I wonder how many DL's of Dark Knight they had during that week...and total so far. And Kingdom for Kefflings being #1 surprised me. Its a cool little game; u gotta love running around building stuff with a giant version of yourself (well, compared to the Kefflings anyway).
If they have it for 360 at that price I will pick one up tomorrow...
As a pack-in it definitely doesnt hold the same weight, especially when its always been a pack-in.
On the other hand, many people have bought a Wii specifically because of this game, or they at least played it somewhere and made them get one. Its definitely a great game...if u havent played Tennis with 4 people at once, you're missing out! That and Bowling. The others are good too, but Tennis and Bowling take the cake.

Why use wireless for gaming anyhow? Ethernet is a faster, more stable connection for sure. Not that wireless DOESNT work, but if u have a lot of wireless connections at your house (laptops, PS3, PSP, Wii) like I do, youll notice that they can cause problems when simultaneously ran...especially with the PS3; methinks its because since it also has routing capabilities (sort of) it causes a problem every now and then. Does anyone else ever get that problem?

It will sell well. They definitely have to market it of course, but how u market a sequel to a game that wasnt hugely popular isnt always easy. But Killzone is a known title to some extent, and its great PSP release (though I still havent played it) definitely helped keep it around in peoples minds.
Like someone deftly mentioned earlier, Halo is timeless, showing all that overhype talk is just that...overhyped!
For so many people to still play and enjoy Halo 3 (and Halo 2!!) is a testament to how great the game truly is. There are some other great MP games out there, but Halo is still the king. Best maps, vehicles, weapons, balance...and the auto replays are too fun to watch and laugh your ass off at. Dammit...now I wanna get outta work already and play me some Halo!
Thats actually a good question...i dont really know. They make a profit though, albeit probably not a large one, on the Arcade at least. Not sure tho. But they move a LOT of SW on the 360, not to mention all of the revenue from LIVE (memberships, DL's), so they are in good shape at the moment.
