Saving money? I've already told my poor wallet that it's going to have to tighten its belt.
Dishonored is at the top of my list, but I'll also be picking up XCOM and AC3 next month. Farewell money, I barely knew thee.
It's UE3, not Gamebryo. Totally different engine.
We get that you're bitter about Skyrim on PS3, but your attempts to drag down Dishonored are getting old. For fans of Thief and Deus Ex (not to mention Arkane's past work, such as the excellent Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah), this game looks amazing.
It's only been announced for Japan. Maybe the western release will get both games, otherwise Square can forget selling me a copy.
With HD collections like God of War, this kind of gimped release doesn't cut it anymore. Either pack all the major releases onto the disk (which they could do with room to spare) or make sure this sells for no more than $19.99.
Splitting the series up to try and gouge customers - Square is acting like a website that spl...
With this and Hitman, it's going to be a great season for freeform stealth.
Nice preview. Currently replaying Thief 2 to prepare for Dishonored :)
@nihonlight
It's NOT the same engine at all.
And I returned my PS3 copy of Skyrim and got a full refund, so clearly I didn't think it was "OK". You should have done the same and moved on with your life.
The PS2 conditioned core gamers towards the PS3, while the Wii had the opposite effect, so I do think it will be a harder sell.
That said, Nintendo has plenty of longtime fans, gamers such as myself who remember when Ninendo *was* the hardcore platform. The thought of Zelda/Metroid/etc. in HD is enough to make me part with some cash, although not necessarily at launch. The real question will be whether 3rd parties keep supporting the platform after the PS4/720 hit.
I think you meant to say:
WE ARE THE FANBOYS WHO DON'T REALIZE THIS GAME IS DEVELOPED BY ARKANE
I agree that the Skyrim situation sucks, but you people act like it's some kind of vast anti-Sony conspiracy.
Seriously, you're like religious fanatics that see "persecution" everywhere you look. The folks at Arkane Studios have put a lot of effort into what looks like an awesome game, and trying to take out your frustr...
Sounds like a great idea! Now I want to replay Planescape: Torment...
It's my most anticipated as well. As soon as they started talking about Thief influences, I was sold.
People fall all over themselves to buy tablets for twice the price, especially around the holidays, so I don't see this as a bad move.
As with every console, the price will drop with time, but if you buy at launch you should expect to pay a bit more. That's how the industry works.
I've already equipped my home with chest-high walls. Saves on medical bills.
Not that it matters that much. Thanks to video games, I now know that if I die, it's only a matter of time before I respawn.
Yep, preordered this back when Newegg was doing their $12 off deals. I really hope it sells well over here.
You can just feel that a lot of heart was put into this game.
I'm sure a game like this does benefit from a PC-optimized HUD and hotkeys, but since XCOM isn't an RTS, the mouse is a little less essential.
The consoles actually have a fairly good track record with turn-based strategy, including games such as Firaxis' own Civ Rev, along with classics like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles, Shining Force, Tactics Orge, Front Mission, Advance Wars, etc.
COD4 was definitely the most influential. Love it or hate it, that game pretty much set the tone for this gen.
Uncharted 2 was probably the most iconic generational-leap game, encapsulating that "playing a blockbuster movie" feel that was only a distant dream last gen.
My personaly favorite would be something less linear than either of the above, but there's no denying that those games shaped what we've come to expect from AAA titles.
I was a bit concerned about difficulty as well, but almost every preview mentions dying over and over - and that's with all the powers unlocked early - so I'm thinking it will still provide a challenge.
Personally, I can't wait to try a pure stealth, no-kill playthrough.
Holding Arkane responsible is beyond moronic.
There's no reason to assume that Dishonored is broken. Different developer, different engine.
You have every right to be pissed about Skyrim on PS3 (I sure was. Returned my PS3 copy, got a full refund and bought it on a different platform), but it's been almost a year! If you're still expecting Beth to make Skyrim play as well on PS3 as it does on 360 and PC, you're deluding yourself. Just sell...
The question is where do we draw the line between "game with sex in it" and "porn game".
And yes, there is a line. No matter how sexually liberated you are, most of you probably wouldn't be thrilled if your daughter/sister/girlfriend/wif e decided to make some extra bucks on the side as a prostitute. When sex becomes a business, it usually becomes exploitative.
There are already games with sexual content on Steam, but if Valve thou...
See, that's what I'm talking about. You can't have an intelligent conversation if you immediately jump to labeling those with different political views as being the same as terrorists or the KKK.
The extremism you're spouting is exactly what keeps real debate from happening in the US.
I would definitely play AC2 as it's altogether an awesome game, although I'm sure you'll be able to enjoy this either way.
