Rayman is like a cross between Mario and more demanding platformers such as Super Meat Boy.
It's a beautiful game with slick controls, but for better or worse, it definitely has a higher learning curve than the NSMB games. It plays a bit slower if you're going for full completion. The challenge reminds me of when I was trying to 100% Yoshi's Island back on the SNES.
"If Sony’s VR endeavors don’t pan out, it’s entirely possible the company could simply facilitate Rift compatibility with the PS4"
This is exactly what Sony should do (whether or not they release a VR set of their own). I'd rather not have to buy separate VR sets for my PC and PS4. The Rift is looking great, and adding functionality for it is relatively easy for developers.
Like supporting keyboards or 3rd-party controllers (or TVs!), there&...
I too would be tempted to rank the SNES at #1, but truth be told I don't play it nearly as much as my 360 or PS3 these days.
Since Bethesda games are among my favorites of the past decade, I would probably have to go with the 360 if I was being honest. PC is king, but for consoles, being stuck with the PS3 versions of Skyrim and Fallout would just be too painful.
U2 didn't just pioneer. It got the basics right, where U3 often slipped.
It had better pacing thanks to fewer drawn-out battles. U3 went back to U1's repetitive wave-after-wave mentality several times, as would often happen when you were detected in a stealth area.
When battles did erupt, they were more satisfying thanks to no bullet-sponge giant dudes (that could happily take gunshots to the face for some reason) and no shield carriers which were...
Even if you thought the arena looked bad, it doesn't "confirm" the game is crap.
Tomb Raider had forgettable multiplayer, but the single player experience more than made up for it. The arena might be fun for all I know (I haven't played it), but it's the campaign that will really make or break this game.
Exactly. The art direction oozes character.
It makes me really want to explore the world, despite the fact that I'm a bit burnt out on shooters at the moment.
Let Naughty Dog catch their breath. We don't want Uncharted to turn into the next Assassin's Creed.
GTA IV and RDR were better on 360, LA Noire was better on PS3. As for GTA V? I honestly doubt that there will be much difference.
This one comes down to your preferred controller and what console most of your friends own.
Same Metroid Prime Trilogy. Almost any of those games would net you more if you tossed them up on eBay.
Far Cry 2 made several mistakes, but it felt a lot less "gamey" than FC3 thanks to having a less intrusive HUD and fewer "go there / do this / press a button to upgrade now" messages popping onto the screen every few seconds.
I'd like FC4 to feel more like an immersive world again, and less like a checklist of video game objectives.
I wouldn't mind seeing Arkane (the guys that made Dishonored) give it a shot. Won't happen, as they're under the Bethesda umbrella and thus wouldn't be able to do a Konami-published game, but the talent is there.
There are so few developers that can be trusted to do stealth right these days :(
I'd love to see that art style revisited. The game had a bit too much hand holding for me, but it was so breathtaking that I could overlook the faults.
Sadly, Thief looks to have gone from mandatory stealth to stealth as an option, and thus lost the tension and suspense that made the original games so memorable.
This new gothic Deus Ex looks interesting, but pretty forgettable compared to the classic Thief titles.
I didn't realize this had a bunch of talent from Starbreeze working on it. Consider my anticipation cranked up a notch!
Good God, I love my PS3 (and my 360), but all the "Xbots were bashing us" whining from hardcore Sony fans is ridiculous.
It's like I'm listening to religious zealots that insist that they are both the "winning majority" and also "persecuted victims" at the same time. Make up your minds.
@Sonic200
Definitely agree that it's good to see Insomniac letting lose with a creative art style again.
Hopefully they learned their lesson after Fuse.
This looked good. It's obviously not trying to be GOW. Ryse is its own thing.
Yes, there were QTEs, but they didn't appear mandatory. And just watch, the same people whining about these QTEs will be praising Beyond: Two Souls before the day is done...
They just need to *NOT* follow MS's lead.
It's kind of sad when the biggest selling factor for a new console is being able to buy a disk, pop it in the machine, and play the game - whether you're online or not.
That's all most of us are asking for! We want to feel like we own the games we buy, without needing Mr. DRM to give us permission to play what we already paid for.
At this point, I'd rather TLG just release out of the blue, rather than tease with more 'maybe you'll play this someday' trailers.
If you like RPGS at all, W2 is easily one of the top games of this gen. It's well worth checking out.
