But to clarify: Forza 3 sold over 2 million units. That's not a flop by any stretch of the imagination.
is what you'll probably have to wait for in regards to Versus XIII and The Last Guardian, although maybe we'll get lucky.
I don't know, it seems too soon to me. I'd rather Naughty Dog just take their time and release a game that surpasses Uncharted 2. Feel the same way about Mass Effect 3.
Games I would love to see but probably won't:
Elder Scrolls V (no way it'll happen, but a man can dream...)
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Thief 4
Games we will see that I want to see more of:
Dragon Age 2
Killzone 3
Deus Ex 3...
This game wasn't on my radar at all, but it actually looks like a pretty awesome co-op experience. Might have to pick it up.
Hating on popular stuff makes you really cool, just like this guy!
The announcer will be more vocal if you're like this guy - constantly getting double kills and going on kill streaks, etc.
And Bungie uses the lower crosshairs to differentiate between line-of-sight and line-of-fire. For instance, unlike in many other shooters, just because your head pops up over a shoulder-height wall, that doesn't mean your bullets (shot from a gun held at the hip) will also magically go over the wall. Gun-level and eye-level are represented separat...
Yeah, it just looks so sleek. And I love the bold colors used in this map and Reflection.
Not every shooter has to have the same old "gritty" aesthetic.
Lots of Jim hate as usual, but I think he's right on the money here. The spirit of Bioshock is more than just Rapture, and taking the game to a radically new setting was the right choice. I'm all for letting Ken Levine's imagination go crazy.
Enemy Territory was made by Splash Damage - same folks who are now making Brink.
It's fine to talk about a game's shortcomings, but the fact is, when you're talking about a game that sold 5 million+ copies, making the statement that it "failed" makes you look like an idiot.
You might not care for Wii Fit, but did Wii Fit "fail"? If so, I'd love to have one of my products fail like that...
Are people comparing this - an action-platforming game in the vein of Prince of Persia - to a 3rd person shooter like Uncharted?
Do fanboys have some psychological need to obsessively fixate upon their favorite console exclusive?
Maybe we should compare StarCraft 2 to Uncharted as well. And hey, let's think deeply about how the next Elder Scrolls game will compare to Uncharted!
Get out of your box, people.
there will always be guides to show you how to find them. It doesn't matter if they're feathers in Assassin's Creed or Playboys in Mafia, some website is going to tell you where they are. So grow up and stop whining about it.
Bigger than Oblivion = selling more than 6 million copies. That's highly unlikely for a new IP.
Moreover, I'm just not sure how much this title is going to appeal to us actual RPG fans. From what little we know, the emphasis seems to be all about the action, with "combat like God of War", etc.
The strength of Elder Scrolls is that there is so much to do *besides* combat. There are thousands of NPCs to talk to (or harass), herbs to gather...
It's hard to both get trolled and be a troll at the same time, but congrats, you pulled it off!
So wait, there will always be the Xbox as long as Den_UK is around?
You ain't not ;)
I'm fine with a silent Link. That's how it's supposed to be. However, I think it's about time Nintendo added voice acting for the NPCs (as well as a full symphonic soundtrack! Zelda deserves the orchestra treatment!).
Then again, after hearing the english dub of Metroid: Other M, maybe we should be glad there is no voice acting...
But Portal was also only 3-4 hours, and it was one of the best games I've played in recent years. A game doesn't have to be long to be amazing, not when the price of admission is $15.
Seriously, us JRPG fans are fine with turn-based battles, focused narratives (not every story has to shoehorn in "player choice" with a good or evil path, etc), and a fairly linear progression of dungeons and towns. IT'S OK.
We don't need JRPGs to become WRPGs! Stop trying to reinvent yourself and just give us a solid, traditional JRPG that doesn't suck.
Games like Thief pioneered the heavy use of light and shadow years prior to Doom 3's release. Hiding in the shadows, putting out lights with water arrows, creating a thick atmosphere based around the lighting....
Doom 3 certainly advanced the tech, but it was not the first game to use light or the absense of it in a big way.
