Yeah, they're just trying to spin it in a positive way.

Saying "console gamers aren't getting less" is effectively the same as saying "PC games aren't getting more", but you won't hear Dice say the later...

Dice's PR people are starting to sound like politicians :)

The problem being that you could cut and paste "Halo" with any popular series that gets a decent marketing push and make the exact same argument.

I generally find the "people are brainwashed by marketing into liking it" angle to be unrealistic.

A big marketing budget can push sales initially, but the returns generally diminish fast with each sequel if the products don't deliver.

When a franchise's popularity endure...

A rationally thinking person would not hate Halo.

Putting aside that the Halo games are among the most polished FPS titles out there, even if you have zero love for the series, the proper emotional response is DISINTEREST.

If you don't enjoy a particular game, it's understandable to feel apathetic about it. But when apathy crosses over to HATE, then you're probably a fanboy...

Yeah, but the Deus Ex:HR/R6:Vegas cover system is basically the same as the SC:Conviction cover system (not surprising considering it was the same team that made R6:Vegas), which is already on the list.

It would probably be redundant to include both Vegas and Conviction.

@Eamon

Exactly. What this really means is fewer cutscenes and more in-game cinematics, which is perfectly fine.

Square's cutscenes have always been pretty, but incorporating these sequences into the actual gameplay is a step forward.

Looks great, but the collector in me wishes this was on disk.

Nice, but for $150 it better be!

Edit: I think I still like the cover art for the collector's edition strategy guide the best:

I fully enoyed Reach's campaign, and have probably replayed it (solo and co-op) more than any other Halo game besides CE. The dynamic enemy AI remains among the best in any FPS, and keeps things interesting on replays.

Most of the criticism leveled against it could honestly be leveled against *any* linear FPS game. And while Half-Life definitely takes the crown in level design, it's hard to beat the actual firefights in Reach. Taking down elites is still a good time. ...

Buying 4 out of 5 of these. The next 2 months are going to be crazy...

Actually it won't be BF3, MW3 or Gears 3.

If you consider "this year" to be all of 2011, the most played multiplayer game will without a doubt be Black Ops.

There's seriously no way any new title will get more total hours of multiplayer than BLOPs has accumulated. Not before the end of 2011.

Between now and the end of November, I'll buy all these day 1 (already have them preordered):

Gears 3, Rage, Dark Souls, Batman: AC, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Then I'll probably pick up these shortly afterwards when they're less money and I have more time:

MGS Collection, Team Ico Collection, Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D Land, AC: Revelations, Rayman Origins, Halo Anniversary

Cliffy never actually said that. It turns out the website was falsely reporting the story so as to get hits...

"Real" characters or not, DMC4 wasn't exactly the high point of the series. Many fans weren't happy with the backtracking and recycled bosses, etc.

I don't know if this will be any better, and I'm certainly not sold on the vibe yet, but the amount of negativity this game is getting has become rather comical.

I'd think this would be obvious, the same way that a smart movie director takes inspiration from great films of the past, or a talented musician draws from classic songs.

Of course Naughty Dog drew inspiration from games such as Gears and Tomb Raider, just like Epic drew from other sources when creating Gears or the Unreal games.

I think where Cliffy got into trouble here is the word "clone". You can borrow ideas and innovate on them without clo...

Yeah, just watch the degrees heat up on this one :)

Gears was definitely innovative and many of its best aspects have been immitated, but it's more than a bit of a stretch to call a game like Uncharted a "clone".

Every successful game was built on the shoulders of great games that came before it, and that includes Gears.

OK, that was totally awesome.

But whether you care for it is irrelevant.

It has a new campaign, new weapons, new additions to Spec Ops, new multiplayer modes, etc.

Sure, the core gameplay is still going to look and feel like the COD we're all familiar with, but it doesn't change the fact that it is a new game by any objective measure.

Between deals on Amazon and Newegg, I'll at least be saving a nice chunk of cash thanks to discounts and store credit. No need to pay full price on everything unless you hate money.

I agree, but it's probably best for developers if they don't announce a game unless it's within a year to 18 months of release.

Getting people hyped up with a trailer can potentially backfire when your game is still 3+ years away, as even fans can start putting it out of their minds.
