Only 2 hours? That's pretty short for a stand-alone.
I'm still interested, but given how much I have to keep me busy right now, waiting for a price drop sounds about right.
GOW3 was difficult to judge, as it had both the highest high points and the lowest low points of the series.
The action really hit its peak early on, and the last third of the game felt a bit uninspired by comparison. I would have to agree that GOW2 was a more consistent game overall.
Ban this sick filth!
Probably 2013. EA seems to be alternating the MoH and BF franchises on a yearly basis like Activision alternates Treyarch and Infinity Ward COD games.
Maybe because the campaign is a linear experience styled after COD, rather than a more open Battlefield experience like BC1?
And honestly, if you want to blame anyone for all the COD references, blame EA. They're the ones who have been relentlessly trumpeting BF3 as the game to replace COD.
Gotta love the Subway shirt :)
A long campaign with a gripping story? I think you're expecting a bit too much.
Unfortunately, instead of staying true to the heart of Battlefield and having wide-open missions that play out on maps like Caspian Border where you can tackle objectives in a variety of ways, the BF3 campaign looks to be cribbed straight from the COD playbook, with linear sections strung together by cinematic set pieces.
The multiplayer will be worth the purchase price, but a...
Life or Skyrim? Eh, who needs a life anyways...
This MMO is going to have a tough time, simply because Transformers appeals mainly to guys.
Most of the big MMOs tend to attract both male and female players, and I just don't see many of the ladies considering their Transformers "cute", the way most of the girl gamers I know think of their WOW characters.
Considering that they crammed Link, Heihachi, Spawn, Yoda, Vader & his apprentice into the past games, I doubt that "fitting into the universe" is too important to the SC team :)
A number is the most concise form of a summary. That's all. There's nothing inherently bad about numerical scores.
So long as people like things summarized for them, the numbers aren't going away. That is, unless they get replaced with an even *more* simplified system.
Personally, I prefer a 10-point scale versus a straight-up "buy" or "don't buy" 2-point scale. And it's not like the scores stop you from reading. They...
The PS3 *does* get it. It's part of the mandatory install. The only difference is that for the 360 it's optional rather than mandatory.
The thing is, replace Insomniac with Cliffy B (or John Carmack since he's popular for N4G to hate lately) and I doubt everyone here would be rallying him on saying "yeah, stick up to those reviewers!"
Best to get a variety of reviews, actually read them (as opposed to just looking at the score), and decide for yourself if a reviewer's points speak to you or not.
Reviews can be helpful, but it's best not to put too much stock in any parti...
Good comment, but what about 'how could you include [insert game X] and not [insert game Y]'? :)
Same old story regurgitated for hits.
Can we get over the Carmack hate now?
Yeah, hard to say Agent "looks stunning" when all we have to look at is the logo.
It's PS3 footage. Definitely looks like a step up from the beta.
You forget that 30-40% of console owners don't have internet access. For those people, even if they buy new, they get screwed.
I've got one friend who will have to lug his PS3 to my place just to access the Catwoman content.
Sorry, but this is the same DRM-style BS. It will not kill off the used game market and just serves to punish legitimate customers.
Great scores, but locking the Catwoman content behind an online pass is a real dick move.
Yep, Just Cause 2 was a blast.
On the technical side of things, improved physics (imagine JC with euphoria...) and better detail on the close-range environments would be great.
But don't improve the voice acting! "So bad it's good" should be the standard for voice work in this series :)
