I'd say the headline is honestly rather redundant.

"In Japan" already tells you that it obviously sold more on the PS3, given the 360's install base there.

@BubloZX

"Outside of Nintendo's main line up was nothing but shovelware with only a few decent titles."

That's complete and utter BS. It might be true for the Wii, but the DS has enjoyed a TON of strong 3rd party titles in just about every genre. I'd start naming them off but the list of truly great games is literally so long that I wouldn't know where to start...

COD1 definitely didn't suck.

@Cy_wolf

If you played the game running on ultra settings on a PC, you'd understand the visual leap.

Unfortunately, the PS3 and 360 can't do tessellation and a lot of the effects that make FB2 stand out, so it's not nearly as impressive on those platforms. Still a decent engine, but other studios such as Naughty Dog have honestly pushed more out of the consoles by really optimizing for those older GPUs.

FB2 is less about optimizin...

Honestly, MGS4's opening was not even the best opening in the MGS series.

God of War 3's opening was epic and does deserve mention in "best opening stages", but really it was still just a larger-than-life action set piece. GOW1's opening was far more interesting in terms of narrative.

Half-Life's opening set the environment and the mood perfectly. It started the plot rolling totally in-game, without any need for cut scenes (MGS) or a...

Yep, I just grabbed a used copy off Gamefly yesterday for only $12.99.

Looking forward to getting my hands on that Boner :)

1st-person Zelda (Metroid Prime-style) with Retro Studios at the helm?

I'd be down for that.

"They made a hack and slash when KP were attempting to make a stealth action game."

Sorry, but that's just wishful thinking. According to Kojima himself (via his twitter), even his original concept for Rising was not tactical stealth action as MGS is known for. He INTENDED it to be focused on crazy action from the start.

Seriously, did NO ONE pay attention to the insane Raiden cut scenes in MGS4? Does no one remember Raiden breakdancing while fl...

Deus Ex:HR was easily my favorite not-in-severe-need-of-patching game this year. Definitely deserves to be in the nominations.

I agree that making us wait 90 days, etc., after the tweet would be a bit nonsensical. Hopefully you're right and Valve doesn't decide to toy with us :)

The tweet states: "Min: 60 days, Max: Unknown"

Unfortunately, that could be taken to mean "no sooner than 60 days", rather than "within 60 days".

Rising was NEVER going to be a classic-style MGS game. Anyone who was paying attention already knew that.

If you're going to do a Metal Gear action game, might as well have the best team in the biz on the job.

Yes, Platinum's style is even more over-the-top than MGS4's already ridiculous cut scenes, but the gameplay will be top notch.

Those $199 sales for the 250GB holiday bundle were hard to pass up. Heck, I bought a new one despite my launch 360 still running.

Honestly, while a new engine would be nice, it's new gameplay that I would be more interested in.

Fewer Michael Bay-style explosive set pieces and more stealth and exploration. Give me some actual pacing with real peaks and valleys rather than constant, brain-numbing action scenes. Lose the on-rails vehicle sequences and give me wide-open battlefields with vehicles that can be driven in any direction to take on objectives as I see fit.

I could go on, but ...

I agree that HL1 had a bigger impact on the industry, although I seem to have an easier time relplayng HL2 (and Episode 2) today. Black Mesa was awesome, but the alien world of HL1's end game was less so.

At least there's a Thief game on the list! I really want to commend the guy for that, but being a diehard Thief fan, it pains me to see Deadly Shadows listed instead of Thief 1 or 2...

Compared to Disgaea, almost every game is going to look like it "lacks depth", but deep mechanics aren't the only factor that makes a great game.

Sometimes games that do fewer things, but do them extremely well, can be just as memorable.

Yeah, to be as shocking and unexpected as they're making it sound, it has to be from an existing IP, or at least an existing franchise within the larger entertainment industry, if not necessarily a game.

They're also hyping up the developer, so it must be from one of the big boys, and probably not one of Sony's first parties (as a new exclusive from someone like Santa Monica wouldn't exactly be "surprising!").

That Digital Foundry comparison is *much* better than the CVG video. Clearly displays the lag in all its post-patch glory.

Unfortunately, according to an Obsidian developer who had hands-on experience with the engine, this problem will probably never get 100% fixed, as that would require major changes to how the engine works:

It sucks, but the problem is that all the review copies Bethesda sent out were for 360.

Reviewers could buy the PS3 copy on their own afterwards, but unfortunately most gamers don't pay attention to reviews that are "late", they only care about the reviews that hit right at (or before) the release date. Reviewers are forced to rush out reviews if they want their websites to get any traffic.

Some decent deals, but most of these were cheaper earlier in the week. Resistance 3 and Rage were both $29.95 just a few days ago (grabbed a copy of R3 myself), and they'll probably be that price again before long.
