The color saturation of OLED is best. LCDs look washed out in comparison. If OLED looks too saturated it is because they aren't calibrated right. The OLEDs in phones are not calibrated correctly for games and movies, they are set to "pop" but not for realism. That can all be adjusted in software for Morpheus.
Burn in wouldn't be an issue if they don't display static images or overdrive the brightness.
The thing is that pixel lag in LCDs is not suitable for VR. I have it on my Sony Bravia TV. When you turn quickly in a FPS the whole screen will blur out a bit. No good for VR, it will make you puke. There are tricks to reduce blur on LCD, but still it isn't eliminated. LED strobing has other downsides like dark picture.
Also the inability of LCD to do pure black is an issue. In VR where everything is dark, you will see the LC backlight bleed-through. It will appea...
I think it is online only and digital download only unfortunately. A digital only collector's edition would be dumb.
Sony should make this a full retail release but they don't seem to do that with indies.
This game should get a full retail release. Locking it behind a required PSN+ subscription and making it online only will limit the audience too much. Why not make the game so that everyone can buy it?
It is not out for awhile yet, they may implement LOD management better to avoid the pop-up.
ANY game can reach 60 FPS. It is a matter of what was left out to get it. Computing power is not infinite, even on high end PCs. There is always a tradeoff. For a game like this I think they should have done the 1080p but added better lighting, shadows, AO, AA, and much higher res textures. That would have added more to the immersion level. 60 fps is nice for online shooters and racing games but for this better graphics fidelity would have been nicer.
I wouldn't get expectations too high or you may be disappointed . It was a good game but not the best in the world like some say. It is very linear. I bought this based on all of the hype and while I thought it had it's moments there are other games I liked more.
@thereapersson
I always try to make that point when someone says "900p is OK, it is not that much less than 1080p". The problem isn't just the missing res, but the upscaling artifacts you get. This is why every game should be 1080p native, to match TVs 1:1.
I don't care anymore if at least it is a real game. As of now it is a legendary piece of vaporware.
Except that Batman was confirmed to be shown on a high end PC, at SONY'S conference! Who knows how badly it will be downgraded when it gets to the console. They always show the PC version.
@starchild
That is a bad pic of I:SS but a good one of modded WD on PC. Kind of unfair, PC will always be better.
I have both too on PS4 but the low res of WD is bad. Then I:SS has much better particle and light source effects.

No cheatin'!
That is why many are disappointed with these consoles. They can't at least do what the *current* and soon to be outdated PCs can do.
I know it is about cost. If they were made more powerful everyone would moan about price. Now they are cheap but weak everyone complains about low res and/or low FPS.
Personally I would have paid an extra $200 to have a better console. If it means it will be relevant longer it is worth it to not have to upgrade again so ...
It is looking more and more like PS4 owners are going to have to look towards exclusive content to get the best console graphics, or jump to a high end PC. Even then they may gimp the PC version to be at parity with xbone.
And as many wouldn't enjoy the game if they used each systems strengths? THAT is an "ignorant statement". Actually by using parity less would enjoy the game because their system is not being taken advantage of, and they know it. So it is the *opposite* of what you said. I guess by your logic they shouldn't make the PC version of anything with higher resolutions either. They shouldn't use Kinect because the PS4 doesn't have it and PS4 owners couldn't "enj...
A new SDK or even API is not a hardware upgrade. While being more efficient helps it isn't magic. This also assumes that all xbone tools are being upgraded but the PS4 devkit is at a standstill and is unchanged from when it was first rolled out (possible I suppose but doubtful). If SDKs were as good as they could get on both, the better hardware will always be ahead.
If you just look at hardware and GPU architecture the PS4 is better, just like high end PCs are better t...
No PS4 games are 720p but there are some on the xbone like CoD, Dead rising 3, and a few more that are only 720p. Some other xbone games are close to it like Titanfall and watchdogs which are 792p. I mean 792p? why bother you are so close to 720 just do that and get rid of the screen tearing.
I am kind of disappointed in both. The PS4 is better but still if they had to do 900p that is lame in this day and age.
No. I can tell right away when a game is not running at native resolution of 1080p, it is very distinguishable. I don't have a 900p TV. It is not a "fanboy argument" because I can tell while looking at the game on my TV, don't care about fanboys. Upscaling is not some magic resolution maker-upper as you seem to imply. All "upscaling" is is stretching the image by selectively doubling pixels at regular intervals, then applying a smoothing filter over that to red...
The NES was 240p, man. Yep 240p. The difference there was that CRTs were a bit more friendly to low res. The pixels were rounded (cathode ray beam made dots) Whereas todays fixed pixel displays are sharp edged square blocks. Look at any 240p game on a 20" CRT and then a 20" LCD such as RGB arcade monitors, the LCD will look hideous.
That said my TV is 1080p. I prefer my game's native resolution to match 1:1, I don't have a 900p TV. The problem with low...
Meh. Games as a service. Ok I suppose for older stuff that you don't have anymore like PS2 if cheap enough but I can't see playing a PS4 game this way as they said would eventually be possible. Why would you want a laggy experience with much worse graphic quality?
Well I have a 1080p TV not a 900p one. So obviously games look much better in 1080p, 1:1 native resolution. Upscaling sucks. It looks aliasy and pixelated and the textures blurry thanks to the upscale filters. I have Watch Dogs on the PS4 and it looks terrible at 900p compared to infamous at 1080p, yes I can tell the difference.
