Yeah..they sent out a message over Live I believe. Still, it's your fault you didn't take up the offer, what else did you want MS to do? Phone up every single person who hasn't applied for it, yet? It's not like there wasn't enough publicity on it, it's not like it wasn't made obvious that a big change was coming, you must have known this yourself.
I think giving away a FREE memory card is mighty decent of them, but I guess you can't please everyone.
EDIT: Why did you pay ...
Vhero, they own no such rights at all, by that logic we wouldn't have seen FF6 on PSX because Nintendo owned some sorts of rights to it (original was on the NES) and that wasn't even really a remake.
I'm not sure why we haven't seen a FF7 remake, I'd wager that Squeenix is waiting until they've remade 1-6 before doing 7.
Square Enix's sales have suffered because their games have been crap. Make crap games and they'll sell like crap. If they concentrated on making the high quality games they used to, they'd be rolling in it - multi-platform or not.
FFXIII is going to sell bucket loads - on both systems (except maybe in japan)
Microsoft gave you the option to have a FREE memory card sent out or buy a HDD for 20$. It's your own fault for not taking up that offer.
As consoles get updated and new features get added, sometimes support for them needs to be in the firmware. Rather than asking devs to account for consoles that don't support those features, they make their lives easier by ensuring the console will be updated.
It's unlikely that HAWX or MLB will NEED the NXE update, but future games might (particularly those with Avatar Support) and it's easier to have ALL disks have the update than just a select few.
MS has been doing this for a ...
Wait, what? Why? What's so bad about the NXE? The people without ethernet are the ones even less likely to look at the Dash, they'll probably hardly ever see it.
Pebz, NXE did NOTHING and I mean NOTHING to stop Piracy. All flashed consoles, even really old ones, still worked fine on NXE. You can even install the games and they're identical, copy or real.
No it's not, the SPU's power lies in the fact that there's 7 (well, 6) of them.
Jay2, that statement proves that you don't actually know anything about the architecture of both consoles. You could have a million cores and still have a painfully slow machine.
1 360 CPU core != 1 PS3 SPU
What makes you think they're "raping" anything? On previous console generations, everyone played to each console's strengths, so why would it be different here?
"I loathe multi-plat games" to "be a gamer"?
Unfortunately, it's not easy to make money on just ONE platform these days, development costs are simply too high, if you want to "be a gamer", support developers by buying their games - multi-platform or not.
I'm sure Tekken 6 will be a great game on both machines, I'll certainly be looking into it.
Edit: Also, the whole "constant read speed" thing isn't as big an issu...
If it's just like BF2 but free, I'll be over the moon.
It's good news for Microsoft as well, you know. Obviously Japan 360 sales are going to pale in comparison to PS3 sales, but that just makes sense - There's a lot more PS3s in Japan than 360s and since RE5 is identical on both systems, the Japanese gamer has no reason to want to buy the a 360 bundle if they already own a PS3. Plus, since most of their friends will have PS3's, even if they own both consoles they'd likely buy it on PS3.
However, that's not the case in most of the re...
Piracy is the reason a game went on sale early? Ummmm...that makes no sense...
It's on HHG and people are surprised it's fake?
I've been saying for months now that he blatantly just makes stuff up to get hits, I seriously think if he keeps posting stuff like this, his site should be banned from N4G (no doubt the source of most of his hits).
It's not exactly a new issue and al recent reports indicate that the problem is getting better, not worse. Something fishy is going on, this article is about a year or two out of date.
Even if there was a significant graphical difference between the two consoles, it doesn't mean squat. Look at the last generation, the Xbox was the most powerful console of the 3, it had the best looking mutli-platforms, yet it didn't get anywhere near the sales of the PS2 (Even ignoring sales from the first 2 years the PS2 was out).
You should care about it, it's about the only thing out there capable of directly competing with flash. Why's that important? Well, competition in general is good, especially for free plugins that would break the web if they suddenly cost money or whatever...
This is really old news, MS stopped shipping out boxes to customers years ago. A friend of mine had his 360 repaired in 2007 and had to supply his own box.
Don't see why it's suddenly a big deal now, did someone just want to have a good ol' moan at Microsoft?
Do more people own 360's than PS3's?
Gamers will go where the games are. Both systems have an amazing lineup of games out and I dare say very few people (less than 0.1%) have played ALL of the big exclusives on both - there's just too many for the average person. Who cares if a game is a year or two old, a great game will be a great game for years and years.
The PS3 definitely seems to have 2009 sorted, I wouldn't discount MS completely just yet as they tend to like surpris...
