L4D is hosted on dedicated servers, which is why you can be with 7 of your mates and still get red bars. It's a little bit unrealistic to expect Vavle to plop up servers all around the world, or even Sony for that matter, when you're not paying them a penny for the service. In theory, a P2P system like Live (Or indeed PSNs own P2P networking) SHOULD be able to overcome this, but it seems either developers just don't care or Sony/Microsoft haven't got a great backed for local matchmaking. Or a...
Surely 2 months doesn't make a huge difference?
Anyone that claims there's a difference in the graphics is a fanboy. The games are identical, both versions use the same models, same textures, same everything. If there's a difference, it's a difference in the technology behind how it's drawn to screen, but neither is any better than the other, at least not on 3rd party games.
NO NO NO NO NO!
Why did you say that the 360 has better graphics than the PS3!??! WHY?!?!
We wont hear the end of this for a month!
D=!
Microsoft described XNA community games as "a youtube of games" and you know what, I think that's a pretty apt description.
The vast, vast majority of videos on youtube are complete rubbish. Angsty teens, creationists, 14 year old girls singing along to the latest Katie Perry rubbish, etc.
Crappy webcam video with noisy, distorted sound is the norm.
But then once in a while a real gem of a video appears, either something genuinely funny, or interesting or just real...
What?! Something HHG said might not be true?!?! This is ridiculous, HHG is a well established, well respected member of the community! He'd never blatantly make s*** up just to get hits! I'm outraged! Absolutely outraged!
....and ever so slightly sarcastic.
I wish I had enough free time to play this game, but as it is I am finding it hard enough just keeping up with all the great "short" games that are coming out.
PS3 or 360? Surely that's an obvious one - both.
Because nothing ensures hits better than a fanboy debate.
Questionnaires cost money to produce, a surprising amount of money in fact, in order to get worthwhile data from it. MS wouldn't ask questions unless they wanted to know the answers, so I reckon there might actually be something to this.
And it makes sense! MS knows that PSN is catching up to Live, so they're going to need to do something to set themselves apart from it once more. They've currently got the edge with parties (in MY opinion anyway, your mileage may vary), but Sony ...
I remember filling out one of those questionnaires months and months ago. It pretty much focused on the first Scene it? game.
I made it my mission to mention that the game was good in every way except the announcer. I tried my hardest to shoehorn "The announcer is annoying and should be shot" into every question they asked.
"What did you like about the game?"
"Everything except the announcer"
"What didn't you like about ...
darkride66: "Your XBL fees paid for someone else to buy a $200 Arcade."
Erm. What? How on earth did you come to that conclusion?
Are you suggesting that MS takes all the money people use to subscribe to live with and go out to buy 360 Arcades for people?
General hardware failure means more than one thing can cause it. That's all the RROD is, it's the 360 saying "something isn't working right". If you get the RROD, you can hold down the sync button and press the power button to cycle through various "codes" (different patterns of flashing lights) to get a more specific error. The RROD can be caused by any number of things, it just so happens that there's one or two issues in particular that cause it the most.
I...
E74 errors have been reported long before the NXE update. RROD errors still happen long after the update as well.
It's a bit different if you live in a country where $60 is about a week's worth of income (and in many cases, even less).
Will it, now?
Will it f***.
Really looking forward to this one!
Still it's very, very unlikely to ever happen. Even if the game itself doesn't use those features, that doesn't mean it hasn't been built upon libraries that expect them to be there.
Wont happen, it's somewhat analogous to playing a Wii game on a gamecube. The underlying hardware may be very similar, identical in some cases, but the DSi has a few extra bits and pieces that DSi specific games will use. Think about it - if the game were able to run on a regular DS, surely that's the format it'd be released since there's already millions upon millions the bloody things out there?
I'll pick it up eventually, but it wont be a first day purchase. The first game had a really interesting story, but very shallow gameplay.
Then again, they might surprise us this time around with some depth, but I wont hold my breath. Not like there aren't enough games coming out this year.
