What really decides the fate of this technology wont be the games, it'll be the price. The 360 is already cheaper than the Wii, so I'd expect Microsoft (if they have any sense) to market this so the cost of a 360+Natal bundle will be around what a Wii is now. Any more than that and Casual gamers will probably be put off by it.
The same way they make room for the Wii.
Anyone that gives a damn is playing both. That's what real gamers do.
PS3 FanBaby is clearly just an idiot troll. Please don't feed the trolls. However, your attempt to insult him makes no sense - calling someone poor as their reason for not liking a product? That's exactly like saying someone just doesn't like Ferrari's because they can't afford one. They might have their reasons.
Either way, ignore this guy.
"I bet I at least 70% right"
Quote of the week.
Errr. The article expressly states that the game takes place in the PRIME reality of Star trek. I.e. the universe that contains everything from TOS to Voyager and NOT the film. Essentially what you've just said there is that the alternate reality screwed things up and the original reality screwed things up. Which is it?
"perfect example of the 360 fanbase seeing only what THEY want to see. :/"
Don't lump all 360 fans together, most aren't idiots like this guy. For every idiot 360 fan, there's an idiot PS3 fan. Presumably there's also an idiot Wii fan, but they're not old enough to use a computer and post about it.
The reason commadore was getting disagrees was because he DID conveniently only tell half of the story. Crytek said that the engine will run better on the [insert console name here] in certain parts, but better on the [insert other console name here] in other parts.
In the end, I think it's fair to say that both versions of the Engine will make some exceptionally nice games.
+1
I hate the way all the big companies trickle these games out. One, maybe two a week? Why? Give us 5 or 6 each week, of varying genres, until the entire back catalogue is up! Then start doing special offers each week, nice discounts on certain titles to keep sales up and get newer users interested.
How do you know it wont cost as much? Don't forget, Natal supports 4 players, with Sony you'd have to buy 4 controllers. I'd imagine they'd be around the same price as a wiimote (say £30?), which means for the same amount of players, you'd have to pay £120. A bit of a frivolous argument, maybe, but it's certainly a fair point. I don't think Natal will cost more than £100. In fact, judging by the technology behind it, most of the work is done in software, the rest is just two In...
Poppycock, all of this. Microsoft has no more a Stake in HD-DVD than they do in Blu-ray, the only reason they supported HD-DVD was because it was an obvious competitor to Sony, it made sense to. They'll have no issue with using Blu-ray as they don't own their own media format, so they're not in competition with Sony there.
As for these rumours, I would completely ignore them. The jump isn't big enough, it'd be completely compatible with 360 games, but no developer would bother wi...
What's reported here is accurate.
Useless article, it has no indication of which revision of each console it has used. We've heard a lot about Falcon and Jasper for the 360 and we know that each uses less power than the previous. Likewise, the PS3 has went under a few revisions of its own and no doubt the Wii has as well. Not enough data for a fair comparison (Although I will admit that the distribution of scores is probably about right).
"more power consumption=quality."
Idiot logic. More power consumption often just means inefficiency. Take, for example, the amount of power your TV uses when on and when in standby. The difference is only something like 5% in many cases, but would you argue that the blank stanby screen is only 5% less entertaining?
Or how about the processors of old? Most processors today still use the same (or less) power than the processors we had 10 years ago, are you tr...
With a name like that, I'm sure your XBL "buddy list" (Isn't it called a "Friends list"?) is absolutely huge.
You don't know what it will cost. The hardware behind Natal isn't anything particularly new, it's essentially two webcams, a mic and perhaps a small processor. What makes Natal tick is the software behind it (Microsoft IS primarily a Software company, remember), so there's no reason to necessarily expect a huge price tag. No doubt MS will want to do a 360+Natal bundle down the line, likely for less than the price of a PS3 and maybe even less than the price a Wii costs today.
The PS3Eye does NOT do full body motion. All it does is sample the scene without you in it, then use that to work out where you are by looking at the differences (The Xbox Live Vision cam can do the same). This is an entirely Two-Dimentional process and is very susceptable to lighting conditions, as well as the surroundings. Got the lights off and wearing black? Good luck getting that to work.
Natal has TWO cameras and uses INFRARED to figure out where you are in 3D space. It's ...
It will almost certainly be used to attract more casual gamers, but unlike Avatars, there's no reason why it should be used ONLY for them. I can see games like Mass Effect utilising the mood/emotion sensing tech in conversations instead of just the wheel. I'd love to play a big, open world RPG where I could actually talk to characters, even if I still only had the same basic dialogue tree options as before, it'd be pretty damn cool.
Perhaps, but that really is up to the developers to decide. They can focus on the whole body or just part of the body. Plus, many wii games still expect a certain level of space, like when golfing and suhc. Or to put it another way, it'll take up a lot less room than your average Rock Band session and that seems successful enough.
