GIJeff makes a lot of sense, you could do with listening to him. I'm also a programmer, specialising in C++. And more to the point, specialising in games, but go ahead and ignore anything I say.

You make a very good point with the name, but then again that's probably who it's targeted towards - people who want a simulation over a game.

Isn't "Force Feedback" and "Rumble" the same thing?

Yeah, I remember reading about a new technology rather recently that could mean persistent RAM (I.e. RAM that doesn't disappear when you pull out the plug), but I reckon there'll always be a divide between memory (in terms of RAM) and storage. However, with the advent of SSDs and such, the speed gap may get considerably more narrow.

I never once said that there were games out there that DIDN'T use all the SPUs (or even any of the SPUs), what I said was that there already existed games that used them all, they just didn't use them as best as they could. That's a hell of a rant for such a misunderstanding, you should try calming down.

Don't be naive, there's not been a single console ever released that's "perfect", there's a whole list of things that could be "done better" on them all and the PS3 is no exception.
A price drop is definitely what it needs the most right now, but it could also do with a couple more high-profile games (Killzone 2 is a great start, but we're a fickle crowd, come April we'll be wanting more and after Uncharted 2, we'll be wanting more again), PS2 compatibility across al...

"640k is more than enough for everyone!"

I know that isn't actually a real quote (Bill gates was said to have said it, but he never actually did), but it still applies. 5 years ago, people would have said 4Gb was overkill on anything other than a server, but today a lot of people (including myself) are making use of it.

Memory is still actually a huge limitation, especially in games (Textures EAT memory - a 2048x2048 texture, which is not all that high this...

Trying to get the media to stop blaming games on stuff is like trying to convince a PS3 fanboy that the 360 isn't where it is today just because it has a lower price, or trying to convince a 360 fanboy that the PS3 isn't "dying". It just wont happen.

Going by those screens, I definitely feel they've picked the best one, although I can see bits of the current NXE in all of them.

Another sensationalist title from Hiphopgamer. Colour me surprised.

If you're actually naive enough to think that every PS3 game out there so far has never used all of the SPU's running at 100%, you've been incredibly misinformed on how games are made.
Games have ALWAYS pushed the hardware on whatever they've ran on, it's never been about "using as much of the processor as you can", rather it's always been "Get as much out of the processor as you can". T...

On the top 10, Horse armour comes in at 9. 10th is Fighter’s Stronghold. Fighter’s Stronghold was involved in several promotions giving it away for FREE and those were NOT counted since this is about sales. If they were counted, it would actually be the most popular content of them all, pushing Horse Armour into last place:

1. Wizard’s Tower

2. Thieves Den

3. Mehrunes Razor

4. Spell Tomes

5. Vile Lair

6. The Orrery

7. Knigh...

This is going to be an amazing game for sure, I've got my preorder directly from Sony (huzzah for having a man on the inside) and I'm really looking forward to it.

But something has been bothering me.

All the hype for this game is crazy, it's been put up on an incredibly high pedestal, but even if it really DOES live up to the hype, it's not the "game changing" game to change the entire console war that many people are claiming it to be. It'll be the PS3's ...

Ok, so for those ready to jump on Microsoft for their certification process being too strenuous, go ask SCEE why SSF2THDR isn't on the European PSN yet.
All 3 consoles have a similar certification process, hell even Symbian phones have it, they're there to ensure the product meets a certain level of quality before it gets released (and also to make sure it's not doing anything naughty that it should not be doing). It will never catch all the bugs, it might not even catch an "obvio...

darkdoom3000, I know what you're saying, but the other guy was implying that 360 owners didn't have a HD TV for one reason or another. The only possible correlation would be that 360's are "cheap" so the owners must be just as cheap and that's why they only have SD TVs. It doesn't make sense to me, either, but that's exactly what he was implying.
Of course, $400USD is actually quite considerable for a a large amount of people, I wouldn't consider it "cheap", that's f...

@FelinePornographer

> The huge number of 360 owners who are stuck with crappy old 480i TVs

What, and PS3 owners are all rich and have HD TVs? I mean, aside from the fact that I've yet to see a genuine graphical comparison between the two consoles that wasn't taken directly from a HDMI feed (at both 720p and 1080p resolutions, like what Eurogamer does), that comment is possibly the most absurd thing I've read on N4G - and that's saying something. How elitist are y...

There's no such thing as "not too cheap". "too cheap" would mean millions of PS3's selling overnight. Of course, Sony needs to make money somehow, which is why the PS3's price is still so high (I think they're still selling it at a loss), but if Sony could drop the price more, they would and they wouldn't care if you thought it was "too cheap", they want to make money after all.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I think XNA is great (and I did say that) and you guys are right in saying that you wont find anything better for what it is. It's just a shame that people are all too happy to flame Microsoft but don't look twice when something like XNA appears.
