So lets see...

DirectX 12 is from Microsoft
Xbox One is from Microsoft
AMD GCN is designed for Mantle, DX12, Vulkan
Audio IP totally custom by in-house design
Supports hardware decode/encode of 10-bit HEVC (H.265)

GDDR5 as a physically unified memory pool isn't as good as people think. Once the CPU BW goes up, the GPU BW goes down. The XB1 two memories are designed to be independent so that CPU gets the DDR3 and GPU gets the eSRAM so that using it correctly never has memory contention. The purpose of DX12 is to make this automatic versus manually tweaking with DX11 API.
That's because the PS4 has async compute and multi-core CPU/GPU support from the beginning whereas the XB1 did not.
Since when Forbes has anything good about MS? It's like asking neogaf about MS.
It can be a slidesho and people will still defend it. I mean shouldn't the 50% more powerful cxonsole be able to sustain 30 fps? Sony is obsessed with 1080p and it shows.
That's 1080p at all costs. They could have dropped the resolution down a tad and get locked 30.
They should have just locked it 24 fps since it's more cinematic. The game is almost like a movie already.
So is the author going to write an update omce Windows 10 and the UI hits in September previewor once it's officially released. I am going to guess and say no.
Probably from the same authors:
Gamers are pissed that MS won't allow more Preview Users
Gamers are pissed the Preview users games got erased with the last update.
First, SSRO is not texture. Second SSRO are typically done at lower resolution than 720p, so the XB1 doing SSRO at 720p is actually BETTER than most existing games. Third, the final image is native 1080p.
Well the difference is QB is first party versus multiplat.
They did it by running the game at 30 fps and more limited physics simulation because it's an arcade racer not sim.
Resolution is important but to me fps and lighting is the next gen struggles. QB has some of the most amazing lighting so far especially as you dig through the presentation the steps they took to get photorealistic lighting. Also, it should be 1080p according to one in the PDF or juat read the updated aeticle again.
The article has been updated to say the final ouput image is 1080p. Note that SSAO not done in 1080p is the stanadrd process not an exception.
It's ok because they can't do it because it'll compete with the awesome values of PSNow.
Offering the ability to play prev and next gen games is apparently the wrong direction. It's as if providing more values mean no next gen games. Meanwhile, Sony will continue releasing more remastera but that's okay since it's 1080p and 60fps and $40+ a pop.
Such bitterness that the XB1 had a sim racer at launch and then an open-world racer a year later meanwhile Sony delayed DC for one year and GT7 won't come out until 2016, but you know they are for the gamers... greatness await so true.
Is this like photomode where things look great but not as good in motion?
What does this even have to do with MS? Why bring it up other than to trash the competitions? Does that makes you feel good?
So basically both made tradeoffs to achieve their core competencies.
