They tend to have a "pack" mentality when it comes to products and services in the market. When something new like the Wii comes along, they jump on it full force as a homogeneous society. They will just as quickly abandon ship on a particular product or fad "en masse". If the 360 can get a foothold with a handful of good JRPGS and other titles (AC6, Lost Odyssey, etc.) they may just be able to get enough of a run to make the console viable in the marketplace. Sure, it...
His post seems almost Giddy. He says it's a GOTY contender. What did I miss here that would say the game is not exceptional?
Keep 'em coming...
My screen is pretty small. Hard to tell.
relevant to this discussion as Amazon "sales" are to Actual Sales as reported by Media Create. Lol +1 for a funny post.
The A2 has been replaced by the A3 and hence it has been marked down. They most certainly didn't call all the A2s back to the factory to pull out valuable components and stick them back on the shelf at a cheaper price... Think about it... It's basically a clearance.
I expect there will be a mark down on the A3 as we get closer to Christmas -- I suspect the A3 will be $198 very, very soon.
I think Sony has some older models as well. They should follow suit... Ma...
But this is a smoking deal. If the 5 free disks are titles you'd like to have, the player is free. You get a taste of HD for peanuts... At the least it will get people off of DVD and moving into High Definition movies... Maybe they will buy a 1080P player later but at least it gets the ball rolling.
Best Buy has the unit on their website at 99.99 and they are currently doing a "buy and Toshiba HD-DVD player and get 7 movies free". You get the 5 from a mail in and...
Why not have him hit each one for red tokens?
exactly an electronics superstore. They generally will have brands such as Ensoniq, Emerson, Broksonic, and so on... I'm surprised Toshiba would want their electronics associates with K-mart. I've not been in a K-mart in many years but it used to be the place were the truly poor go on Saturday morning to slap around their 10 illegitmate children while eating popcorn and drinking blue raspberry slurpees
oops
Or didn't read the thread... The numbers are directly from the makers financial statements and not "guesstimates". I would not have posted it otherwise.
The PS2 made it back in the long run because of huge game sales. If the 360 continues to be a robust competitor, it's possible that neither the 360 or PS3 will ever move to a point where they make any (significant) money this generation. What percent "loss" is Sony taking on the 40 gig and what are they still taking on the 80? I suspect next quarter will look a lot like this one with them beginning to turn the corner in the quarter after that. They won't be too far behind MS at ...
The secondary market actually increases retail demand for new titles. A game like stranglehold or heavenly sword -- each a 6 hour game start to finish would not fetch nearly as many $60 purchasers as it would when the buyer knows they can trade it in or sell it on ebay and effectively reduce their acquisition cost. The person who buys it used for half or 2/3 the cost of new probably would not have purchased it at the new retail price. What it means, effectively, is that the retail buyer an...
Sony has 248 Billion in gaming inventory -- up 10% from the prior quarter -- primarily due to stockpiling PS3s. That is a LOT of inventory... about $2.2 billion at today's exchange rate. Since we don't know the ratio of PS3 to PS2 to software and other gaming-related inventory, it's hard to tell but regarless, Sony has a LOT of PS3s stocked and ready to go for the holidays by the end of September...
Then the politics and greed will be removed and the studios will focus on content instead of cutting a deal with the hardware maker. For me, content is king. There are movies I want on BOTH formats which seals it for me. I'll get neither. They also haven't pushed the family titles well enough just yet. They are trying to grab the hardcore audio/videophiles with the latest sci-fi, drama, horror, and other R-rated content. Dreamworks is HD-DVD. Why the hell didn't they release all of the...
As many people are playing, I suspect we will be finding other humorous or amazing kill videos for quite some time. This one and the "super mario brothers" are my personal favorites. Kudos to bungie for making such a comprehensive replay mode.
VG Chartz takes a lot of heat at times for their numbers but this is through September 30, 2007 and is based on the manufacturers reported data. In addition, VG Chartz "corrects" their numbers in arrears as they get public information from sources such as NPD, Media Create, Famitsu, and so on.
Yeah, the graphics aren't top notch, but it is a linear button-masher with a little bit of depth to the mashing order. I throughly enjoyed the game but 6 hours is a waste of cash at $60. I am sick to death of short games... I'm done paying retail for a game coming in at less than 15-20 hours of gameplay. I have recently bought some short games but got them on Toys R Us buy 2 get 1 free sale so I paid an effective price of $40 per title which is still a bit rich for 6 hours...
about 3:1 HD DVD over Blu-ray shelf space for actual movies. They also had the Toshiba HD-DVDs front and center in the video department highlighting their current special of 9 DVDs with purchase... I thought HDDVD was pretty much toast, but here in Texas they seem to be doing alright -- at least at one best buy...
Contra III anyone? We need to bring back the days of local co-op.
