I think Valve is really PC developers that develop for the 360 because it is easy enough to do that with a PC game. I would argue if that wasn't the case they would say we are not console developers.
It's the ebb and flow of the industry and really it's similar in other mediums. You get a new product that takes off and opens up new markets, hungry fish jump in to toss out what they can to make a buck and inevitably the bigger fish prevail. Survival of the fittest The market can only sustain so much shovelware and the cream should rise to the top. You will see alot of companies go back to what they used to do or cease to exist altogether.
Now what evolves on the Wii is a...
I hear Sony is getting horse armor. I jest... I have a PS3 :)
In the end, you know who wins out? PC owners because they get the game in 8 months and it has ALL the DLC plus more plus an extra island or two.
It's always the last one to get the game that takes home the lion's share.
Good point Tempist. There are some games that are able to pull it off much better than others and make you forget you are playing a game.
On the topic mentioned that games try and give you moral choices to make ala Bioshock. I don't believe most gamers make game related choices based on moral or ethical beliefs. Games are still pretty primitive in this respect. Most game related decisions are made on how it affects gameplay. If I kill the little sisters does that affect the outcome of the game, does it limit what I get to experience in the game, does it lead me to new avenues in the game? In that respect it's hard to make ...
What about:
Forget DLC
Free DLC
"...give yourself a week free from any distractions, so you can sit down and play all of the other Metal Gear games in sequence"
In a week? I wouldn't mind doing that but don't see it taking just a week.
Just stay in your house like SpongeBob did with Chip, Penny and used napkin until after its release.
HD TV's just make gaming in this generation so much better. If you are on the fence about getting one, I would suggest using some of that tax money and take the plunge :)
It's hard to go back to PC gaming after gaming on the big screen, but my Samsung has a video port to connect my PC directly and I'm seriously considering hooking up my PC to that and using a remote mouse/keyboard from my Lazy Boy.... ahhh the ultimate.
$100.00 for an HDMI cable? Don't get it at Best Buy. Mine was $15.00 at Walmart.
Just what Gamespot needs is more controversy around their reviews.
“We both support regulations to stop the marketing of violence in films to children through violent toys, products, and video games.”
There is so much wrong with that statement.
Adding Matt Damon to the mix would have pinned this game to a movie and it would have retained all the stink and stigma associated with movie related video games.
From what I've seen I haven't been impressed by this title, although the environmental kills and close combat...
Interesting world, kind of strange subject matter for the trailer. He just kind of stabs a few nearly dead enemies.
I like the motion capture... he moves around very lifelike. I imagine (or hope) this is in game cut scene type material and not a CGI scene.
Now let's see some gameplay.
Possibly they only had preorder copies left?
I went into Circuit City because they gave out a $10.00 gift card if you bought it and they had boxes full of them. I was also in Best Buy earlier today and probably saw 100 of them on the shelf.
On a side note, I've been meaning to get Rogue Galaxy for the PS2 for some time and saw it for $39.99 at BB. while at Circuit City, they had it marked down to $19.99. I applied my $10.00 and got it for $9.99. Pretty sweet ...
Making too much money on the Wii and DS... I don't see a new system from them in the immediate future.
Well, they do vibrate don't they :) Ok, this thread might be going South in a hurry.
I admit it, I'm a chicken. I may have to sleep with my light on if this makes it to the states, but since it is already in English, seems like a no brainer.
Sounds like a tough problem to have... We have sold so many there is no one left.
They could do something interesting with hookers and wiimotes.
I would say gamers don't think of games as for kids, but mention video games to a non gamer and they roll their eyes if adults are playing "something meant for kids".
The term video game has a negative connotation in our society.
"What's he doing in his room?"
"He's up there playing video games"
"Why can't he just watch some TV"
"I do not want video games at the dinner table, and please don...
