Man, this new store is hard to see on remote play on my PSP. The little icons make it rather tough and the text is an eye chart.

Wouldn't you expect games releasing now to primarly have been led on the 360? They were starting development 1.5 - 2 years ago on average, so most devs would have picked the 360 back then.

Top tier games will look the same on both platforms. The excuse that the PS3 is too hard to develop for is losing steam since so many top rated titles look great on both systems.

Wait till Fox News gets wind of this. Think of the poor children that come across this bug... the horrors.

It's put up or shut up time for MS. No more console shortages, 50 mil banked on this one, large advertising budget to sell the game on their console, price cut in Europe. If they can't beat Sony in April/May (mostly May since GTA releases on 29th) then what cards are still in their hand? GeOW 2 when all the holidays titles are in full swing?

Instead of DLC, if MS paid that 50 mil to have R* delay it on the PS3 for 3 months or so, then they might have more momentum. Not sur...

I think you both have valid points. It's hard to justify spending money on upgrading the PC and getting a 360 when there is so much overlap in the games that come out.

On the flip side a laptop is great for plane trips and hotel stays, but I would much rather play on my comfy Lazy Boy with my big ole TV on a console then sitting at my desk in front of the PC monitor.

Different strokes for different folks.

Achievements have been around since the dawn of gaming, just in a much simpler form. Being able to put your initials in the high score list on arcade games was often enough draw to motivate gamers to practice up or keep playing... of course some guy named a$$ seemed to always have the high scores everywhere I went :)

Still, I think the best draw for an achievement is some type of in game reward. Flag collecting in Assassins Creed was just a waste of time.

I haven't given up on the Wii, but that is mainly because I have kids and the Wii appeals to them more than the PS3. I'm as excited to get the new Lego games as just about any release in '08 and that is mainly due to the Wii and being able to play co-op with the kids. Plus my kids are now Nintendobots and worship at the altar of Mario.

As a hardcore gamer, if I had just a Wii, I would definitely be pressing my face to the window looking at the great steaks the PS3/360 diners ...

Unfortunately, this is coming too late to the party. I think it would have been a great idea had it come out at launch or shortly thereafter. The problem now is even if they bundle it with new 360's, there are nearly 20 million users that don't have it. Why would a developer support it if most of the 360 owners don't have it (can you count on them buying one)? Sure they could give the option of classic controller or motion controller, but that's more work for the developer and at what gai...

TKF - There is one point on #3 that MS has painted themselves in a corner on. MS has never revealed the actual # of problems and said the 16% figure that came out a few months back was probably too high. With their attitude that the RROD isn't really a big issue anymore (despite what their customers are saying), they can't publicize the fact a new chip version is coming out to save the day.

They might quietly release the new chipset and then if the #'s look good in 6 months, ...

I'm looking forward to the demo, although it seems lately most demos (especially FPS) have kept me from buying the game. Timeshift, Turok, Blacksite 51, Jericho... all those games had promise in the press, but then just didn't impress come demo time. It's probably a good thing because you don't end up wasting your money.

I'm hoping Haze will start a turnaround here.

Why do you play as Keanu Reeves?

MS has had every chance to offer a more competitive package in '07 to anticipate the Sony comeback in '08.

If they had nipped the RROD issue in the bud early on, it would just be a footnote now to the console instead of what everyone associates the 360 with. Sure a 3 year warranty is nice, but come on, fix the problem and put it behind you. You can't buy your way out of it with a billion dollar warranty fix.

Enough with the we give consumers choices by sellin...

Wasn't it stated that the PS3 version would be delayed? I thought I read that last week. That would be surprising since Phil Harrison is now at Atari, or maybe it is out of his control.

The key demographic that Sony and MS should be aiming for is the PS2 crowd. If you already own a console, then your decision is made. If you own both, then you have a decision to make, however Sony and MS want to leverage GTA to get those PS2 folks to trade up. I would say Sony has the brand advantage there. I don't think DLC for the XBox is enough to persuade them otherwise.

The number of consoles sold isn't really a good measure because consoles are a much lower margin in terms of profit, software is where the money is. Sony/MS/Nintendo want to sell more consoles obviously because that gives them a chance to sell more software.

Attach rate is more important because that is the number of titles sold per console. MS is leading that race due to their more extensive library. As '08 rolls out, the numbers might even up more, but really Sony is just ...

The one thing I can't figure out about MS is the fact they are a software company, yet they have no internal games division other than studios they have absorbed over the years. Why doesn't MS have 10-15 different internal groups (MS employees, not for example ex Rare employees) putting out top rate games? Sony has them and they put out top quality games. We know Nintendo definitely has them and they are miles ahead of 3rd parties on the Wii.

If MS would have started interna...

I can count probably 40-50 games that I at least have an interest in... some definites, some wait and see, some rentals, some won't pan out. Going to be busy busy busy, especially when Q3 rolls around.

I think Brutal Legend is a game that will sneak up on alot of people. Hopefully, it comes out in '08.

Here's a game that looks to be breaking new ground and not retreading like so many others. Hope it works out and the game is good. It looks promising.
