It's inevitable that this will turn into a race issue. If games never approach Africa as a setting, eventually you would hear arguments as to why can't we ever set games in a primarly black culture. I commend Capcom for taking a risk and doing something out of the ordinary.
On a somewhat different note, when I was in college many years ago (ugh), we had a black student union, hispanic, asian, etc, many cultures were represented in a union. A few "white" boys creat...
That was like deja vu all over again with IGN's report covering the exact same ground.
My guess is MS approached RockStar with the intent of making GTAIV an exclusive with that 50m and RockStar declined (rightfully so). Maybe they offered more than 50m, who knows. In any case, I'll bet they settled for DLC as an alternative to getting it exclusive.
If I had the 50m, I would have at least tried for a timed exclusive release. Maybe 3-4 months on the 360 then release on the PS3. That to me would have been a better message to sell consoles than DLC.
Rumors rated likely at 3/5 are like kissing your sister. I can flip a coin and give you 3/5 (well 2.5/5 at least).
Looks rather uninspired on the PSP. I wonder how these game type movies can come out on every console and handheld and still expect quality? Just seems like they are going for quantity.
He made an interesting point. 12-15 year olds associate MS with the XBox instead of Windows and all the PC products most of us think about when we think MS. I wonder in what way they perceive MS?
Those were some staples in the PC gaming universe. I played through 75% of them... sadly I missed Grim Fandango :(
Nintendo is appealing to a different genre of consumers. Ones that don't need 14 buttons and 2 sticks to play games. I'm not sure what the point of this article was, Nintendo is purposely not competing directly with Sony/MS for the hardcore gamer dollar and going after the casual full bore... looks like their strategy is working to me.
So why not let us play as Vader the whole game? That would have been a more successful marketing strategy than an unknown 3rd person.
The game looks fun none the less.
When can my kids get their Force Unleashed Happy Meals from McD's?
They were going to call her Kaz Hirai but MS made them change it.
I'd be curious to know others you liked not on that list? I've had a PSP for short while and looking to add more quality games to it.
I don't honestly believe MS thinks digital downloading will be the norm in 12-18 months. I think they are saving face with the HD-DVD failure. Even though HD-DVD wasn't their real intention, they were hoping it would muddy the format wars for quite a while, which seems to have been cut short.
Digital downloads might be viable for movie rental and that's about all I can see it succeeding with in the near future... but heck, I already have pay per view and TiVo downloads throug...
Can we get FFVII as downloadable content? Please and thank you.
It's money in the bank to follow up a successful game with a 2nd and 3rd one. That being said, it is risky to start working on a trilogy's 2nd and 3rd parts before you know how well the 1st one does, especially if you leave the 1st one's story hanging and sales don't warrant a follow up.
At times online brawl matches are completely unplayable, other times they run just as well as if you were sitting right next to the person.
Alot of the other issues brought up in this article bring down the whole experience though.
It is anonymous to a fault. You have no way of talking to anyone or even using a handle... might as well be playing the CPU in that regard.
Nintendo is obviously paranoid about online exploitation and problems that coul...
MS is just saving face here. Their timeframe is absurd. We'll see what they are saying in 12 months when we are still buying our content in a box.
I might be in the minority here, but I like to look over the game's manual before and during the start of a game. I'd rather not refer to an online manual.
What about portable systems with less storage space for all those games plus the inconvenience of downloading over the wifi, not to mention not everyone has wifi...
Why interview execs? They are like politicians, just saying the obvious spoon fed answers.
2 things:
Put a date on when something was uploaded. I can't even remember half the time if I already grabbed something. If I see a new date, then I at least have a fighting chance.
Do random updates instead of only on Thursday. Keep people guessing so they don't pound the servers on Thursday night.
Of course if it is random updates, I really need that date field.
Anything that cuts down on the # of pages is a-ok in my book. I visit it ...
Yikes, there are about 20+ games on that list that interest me. I can't possibly get to that many games and I have a Wii, PSP and DS :(.
Still though, that list is missing a few other heavy hitters - or at least a double (some not announced yet and will probably hit '09)
Alone in the Dark
Bionic Commando
Chronicles of Riddick
Disgae 3
Eight Days
Eternal Sonata
Far Cry 2
Infamous
Indiana Jones (not the lego one)

I'm in my 30's and I feel that my reflexes are slower than when I was younger. I'm not so hot at those quick time button press events that games are so fond of since God of War made them so popular... da$n you Kratos.
