A developer only has to struggle the first time with a new architecture, then they are golden. Also, as more development shops succeed, the ones that fail start to look incompetent and most likely have an inferior product anyway.

You don't see the top studios whining they can't develop for it.

I'm still not sure how RTS's are going to fare on the consoles. It always seems like you are fighting with the analog controls when a mouse is a much better fit. I'll know tomorrow after I try out Civ Rev demo since I haven't played an RTS on a console yet. Anyway, if I was going to get this would have been on the PC.

Yup, I totally agree LJW. Id was at their best when they were a small shop where Carmack could code up something new overnight and elevate the title that much more. Those days are gone now with 80+ man teams now the norm.

Carmack is still one of the most brilliant 3d developers out there, but Id hasn't really embraced all these changes to the industry to remain on top.

Ironically, it is the early adopters this time that have won on the HW front. Typically, machines get streamlined and add new features but in this case the original is king. Down the road that may change, especially if BC comes back.

I have an 80GB and I have had all PS2 games work just fine that I've attempted and with each firmware release that list grows.

I give credit to any developer/publisher willing to try something outside the norm. The games industry is getting so large and games are getting so expensive to make that inevitably it is evolving to where movies have gone: formulaic and safe.

Even if Afrika isn't your cup of tea, if these type of games fail, then it's back to the safe FPS next development cycle.

As long as this game is packed full of variety, it could be a nice way to explore an alternate land....

Zack and Wiki needed a better title. It's really geared to older gamers, but the graphics on the box and title make a casual buyer think otherwise.

Reviews in general have been through the ringer this last year. Are any reviews not tainted anymore with some kind of funk?

I want to know how he is balancing that 360 on his finger in the picture.

6588d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

They already have it translated for the 360 and ported for the PS3 in Japan. What is left to do other than scoop up whatever money it makes in US/Europe? Don't really understand that.

Get with the program Nintendo. If I paid for something, I'm not going to delete it just to make room with the hopes that next time the system won't try and charge me. You will have very irate customers if that happens.

How come no one is reviewing the Bourne Conspiracy? Doesn't that come out next week? Not that I'm all that excited, but it seems largely forgotten.

Same here for my 6 year old. Game could have scored 2/10 and he would still love it.

My son LOVES Lego SW and that is something we can play together coop (he's 6)... so I'm lookin forward to Lego Indy even if it isn't that well reviewed. He will still have a blast irrelevant of the score.

Unfortunately, I doubt he will let me play as Indy, so I'll just have to be the girl :)

What was Phil's reasoning behind not paying for exclusives? I'm sure MS was smacking their lips when they heard that as they were forking over 50 mil to R*.

A few well bought exclusives could be all the difference in the console battle.

It's sad when capitalism is the only driving force for some of these developers. The smaller more driven developers tend to hold their IP closer to their hearts and some can find that good balance between profit and quality.

They certainly can incorporate the mouse/keyboard into a PS3 control scheme, but they can't center the game with the expectation that all the users will have one. Anyone that designs on the console has to assume the user has a controller or their sales will take a beating.

I get scared easy. I need to keep my mommy on speed dial.

Hmmm... not sure about this one. Might be worth a rental.

Kind of lackluster content.

Anyone else use their PSP via remote play to start downloading? I need a magnifying glass with this new store format to make out anything.

By their own admission Gamespot will never review a game that isn't the final build. They mention they had a problem doing that with LO, so they will wait to give gamers an accurate review. They then have to apply this protocol to all games that aren't complete at review time.
