Imagine if Jade and Cliffy B ever worked on a project together. That would be a media frenzy.

He did say the looks of Killzone 2, the 256 online play of MAG and the gameplay of Infamous.

I'm going out on a limb and saying something related to GoW but as an MMO. Not sure if GoW as an MMO would be fun, but we'll see if this is the case
-GoW: definite Sony exclusive
-Has the draw/ability to outdo the 3 mentioned games
-late '09 which is about the target time for GoW III
-Would be a huge announcement if they could successfully reenvision GoW as ...

That just means the Sony contigent have over a year to hold it over the 360 contigent's heads.

Places that should have enough abandoned space to host the event:

Nintendo development studio (for hardcore games)
Microsoft hardware Quality Assurance dept.
Sony's Home (if we can just do it virtually)
Toshiba HD-DVD factory
EA's charitable contribution division
Valve's PS3 development center
Square Enix's annual Loyalty Dinner and Ball

Everyone is complaining they didn't get a new Zelda, Mario or Kid Icarus, but those would be 3 titles. What about next E3, will they ask for the same batch again? Maybe DK or Luigi's H. Mansion? Look at PS360 games, there are 40-50+ games for the hardcore this holiday season alone including 3rd parties. The Wii has considerably less, Ummmm... Madworld looks intriguing, Deadly Creatures might be interesting. I'm trying to think of some more that are unique to the Wii.

If t...

Dell is bundling them in alot more than just the laptops. Most of the desktop XPS lineup has a model that bundles an Elite 360.

It will be interesting to see when ME 3 comes out if MS hasn't moved on to the 720. If ME2 is in '09 that puts 3 at around '11.

His question at the end - is it really that hard to come up with a new console earlier rather than wait 10 years. The answer is yes, it is extremely expensive to do that. The best years for a console are the latter years when its cost is low, has a large user base and alot of games that are reaping money for the console owner. The early years are at a loss or close to even, so coming out with a new console soon does nothing but hurt you financially.

I play tons of PS2 games on my PS3. I practially missed that whole generation so I'm playing all the big games and some RPG's, plus I'm going back and playing all the MGS Essential collection and the GTA's from that time. I've probably played as many PS2 titles as PS3 titles especially considering I can get them for under $10.00 used.

A good game is a good game regardless of the graphics and technology.

Wired.com: Is Clone Wars going to use this controller?

Dunaway: Not this first edition, but to your point, I would certainly expect that people would be following up with some of those titles with a second version very rapidly to take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus capabilities, because it is a heck of a lot of fun.

Well, that just killed sales of the first version.

Fallout was there because of the announced DLC specific to 360 and PC. I don't know why the RE5 was though as there is nothing exclusive to 360 or PC.

I think Jack T. showed us some insight on the delays by saying they were a bit naive in the beginning when designing Home. I could take that one of two ways: Either they underestimated the workload required and found they were woefully understaffed and were scrambling to get the work done or they envisioned way too much and found their ideas were too pie in the sky and are now trying to come back down to earth with something workable.

FF - That's a good point, but the key difference is a game is meant as a one time release. With Home, Sony can get something out there and build it with updates as time goes by. The updates will energize people's interest too. I don't mean if there are bugs or quality issues to release it anyway, that would have a negative impact. Get a solid starting point and let people in, then build it up and up.

There's really 3 markets in this console race: casuals, semi hardcore/casual and hardcore.

The casuals are those people like Sid going into retirement that love the idea of bowling and don't want a complicated controller. They may only own Wii Sports in the lifetime of the console. Soccer moms, girls/boys that thought gaming was for nerds, middle class yuppies that have friends over now and again and drag the Wii out. These people would NEVER own a gaming system like a 360/P...

I don't see us entering a gaming depression like in '83. That was a very different environment and games were just a niche market. Now it is a massive burgeoning industry and the landscape is totally different.

What I do see is something akin to what the movie industry has gone through. Sure movies are doing well, but movies cost alot of money to make and it's big business. Therefore, production companies want to make sure they get their dollars back and then some so movies...
