I think Nintendo is a victim of their own marketing. I look at Wii Music and I see something someone might pick up once and have fun for 5 mins goofing off and then your done.

Watch those cheesy Nintendo commercials where everyone is smiling, cheering each other on, patting each other on the back, living in Fantasy Land. Nintendo is starting to drink their own kool aid thinking a family of four is going to jam out twice a week to Wii Music and have a grand old time. There'...

I'm less for this one thing to do it all type of system. I say focus on what you do well and in the case of the PS3 it does 2 things really well: gaming and blu-ray. When you try to be the swiss army knife, you wind up with a rather useless pair of scissors, an ok bottle opener, a toothpick that you only use once, that damn tool you don't even recognize that keeps cutting your hand and pretty damn good knife.

Let's see, they had about an 80 min show, so they had nearly an hour left to talk about hardcore games. Why not talk about them and avoid all the negative backlash from the gaming world that you get for having a crappy E3? E3 for better or worse is the yearly mecca for gaming. It kicks off the buying season and gets the fan base excited for what is to come. That is what it has become whether it was intended to do that or not, so show your hand, get your fanbase excited, sit back and colle...

Hehe, hope his girlfriend isn't reading that.

Lol... thanks, I'll give you a bubble back :)

I always do an acid test. If I think my mother can do it, then it is casual, if not it's too hardcore. My mother has a snowballs chance in Hades of setting it up via a PC.

Funny story (although way off topic). My mother brought me her laptop and said it is just dead, just powers up and resets. She said she dropped a paperclip into the keyboard, but couldn't figure out how that would break it, especially since she ...

I could have sworn he said Capt. America, but yes you are correct it couldn't be him.

Adam Sessler has the oddest body movements I think I've ever seen, followed closely by Jeff Keighley's on air bouncing up and down.

Imagine if Sony's conf went first and in there they had FFXIII as an exclusive. I'll bet they had some reference to it and removed it from their slides.

In any case, the point of exclusives is to sell consoles. If it does happen and not until '09 or '10 then Sony has already reaped the benefits.

Good thing about this game is they can easily add DLC/patches over time to give you more features. It's not a linear type of game you play through and are done. By giving you new features over time they can breathe new life into it.

The G4 game coverage has been interesting. Finally get to see more games in action that I've only seen trailers for.

Mercs 2 looks awesome, better than I expected.

Dead Space looked neat. I like how they said MS and Sony won't allow a game that you can't pause, so they had to nix the no pause idea they had (whew, now I can finally pee in peace or call my mommy during the scary parts).

Explosions in LBP were cool, although the hands on they showed...

Sony had the luxury of having a 125,000,000 install base, which means the PS2 was a worthwhile investment to them and developers after the next gen started. How are you going to convince a developer to create an XBox (original, not a 360) game? Nintendo and MS would have been throwing money away supporting their old systems that lost the last gen.

Yeah, because it is just so easy for the casual market to setup the vmcNetflix plugin and integrate it with their Media Center before streaming it to their 360. For the technical, not so hard, but MS is making a play for the casual market who just want to click a button and start watching. They don't mind paying for convenience.

>>In summary, Sony’s E3 2008 press conference was like bad sex: going through the motions, the odd enthusiastic flurry, a weary wish it was all over and a forced climax.

Regardless of your opinion of Sony's conference, that (visual?) summary was great!

They'll make it and unfortunately it will sell. Then the press will complain about poor TV game tie ins and they will do it all over again because it is easy money. If Ubisoft doesn't do it then EA or Activision would step in and do it... can't let that money just go untaken.

I'd like Nintendo to come out with a new theme/game for hardcore. We keep hearing about a new Zelda, Kid Icarus, whatever. How many times can they churn them out?

Why not do it yesterday?

Nintendo may have lost, but their money printing machine is still in fine working order and won't be damaged any.

I agree with this article though. No one really wowed in this E3.

Is it just me or does the main character in that picture look like Hellboy?

6546d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I also heard SE was hoping FFXIII would solve the gas price issues too.... well at least it has about the same odds of doing that as it does crushing fanboyism.

No doubt, and why does the interviewer keep talking before he has the mic in front of his mouth?

I love these types of games from NIS. I've got so many hours on Disgaea on my PSP it's embarassing.
