If they didn't pay for it, then why is FF XIII versus not also coming along for the 360 ride? The same argument could be applied to versus as to making it multiplatform, but it stayed exclusive.

Whoops... They better go make sure Resistance Retribution is still on the PSP.

Da*m you FF, always the well informed one in the group :) Bubbles for your elephantine memory.

Cliffy B is no different than any other game designer out there that has had a successful title except he has elevated himself to rockstar status. Can you rattle off the lead designer on Halo 3 or COD4 or are they any more in the spotlight for having developed successful shooters?

I like the Netflix integration.

You know what, a few months ago I might have said that MS would not require it to support their casual/arcade gamer, but as of late I can see MS spin it. "The arcade gamer is after a different XBox experience. If they want to enjoy some of these hardcore games that require an install, we give them the option of upgrading their system with a new hard drive or the option of purchasing a newer system. Then they can jump in and enjoy these titles.

How could MS have determined they won the E3 battle and not announced the title if Sony and Nintendo hadn't gone on stage yet?

Unfortunately, they will have to change the name to "She's just big boned" Princess before they will be able to sell it in the oversensitive USA.

G4 interviewed Reggie after the conference and said what about the core gamer? Reggie said, what do you mean we announced Animal Crossing and GTA for the DS. I'm surprised he was able to say that with a straight face.

Will 3rd parties jump on the motion plus? It means consumers have to buy the dongle first before they can play your game. Either they create games that can fall back to the dongleless controller or they won't create games specificially for the motion plus. It...

MS went casual, Nintendo just didn't do a whole lot and Sony was so so. MS stealing FFXIII was the biggest news, but doesn't mean the other 99% of their conf had alot to offer.

Sony gave Home a token appearance and said nothing more about release dates.

It was almost the Insomniac/Sony show with R2, Quest for Booty and the Resistance PSP release (although Insomniac doesn't appear to be the developers on that one).

Where was Naughty Dog?

Nothing was really big for Nintendo's conf. I'm still wondering about that music game. Do you just randomly press buttons while the game does all the work? Sounds like it will be fun the first time and that's about it. The drum set looked interesting... maybe?

Wii Sports Resort, if you like Wii Sports then you should like this I suppose. Wii Sports was fun for a bit then I moved on.

Nothing in Nintendo's stable to get very excited about.

Well, you get one with Wii Sports Resort which will insure that games sells 90,000,000 copies in any event. Now I only need to equip the other 3 I have in the house :(

The Fallout footage on XPlay last night was awesome. It furthered my interest in the game. They should just give the bloody mess perk out as default.

I really like when you use VATS you get a birds eye view of the bullet striking the target and subsequent bloody mess to follow.

I think Adam Sessler got some wood and drooled all over Todd Howard during that demo (death by teddy bear was just too cool).

Some of the other footage they showed: Ghost...

As brilliant as Carmack is technically, I sometimes wonder about his business saavy and skills away from the keyboard. I'm not saying his assumptions about EA are wrong, but in general some of the decisions id makes (whether by Carmack or the company as a whole) tend to be either very innovative or very much a head scratcher.

Id had the gaming world by the short and curlies during its heydey but is no longer top dog.

You can see MS's shift of focus to the casual world. Once they got through the holiday big hitters it was all about casual style games and online changes to make Live more accessible to the masses.

Avatars, Lips, Scene-It, In the Movies, game shows, online parties, new Uno game, new Live layout.

As a hardcore gamer, it will be interesting (and hopefully not disheartening) to see how '09 shapes up between a casual and a hardcore focus not only with MS but with a...

"I think the market has very readily accepted there are three great solid players. We all compete with one another and the ultimate beneficiary is the consumer, I really believe that, that the quality bar just goes up and up and up as people bring more to the market."

Hmmm... so they actually do compete with the Wii after all.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the conference. All the rumors about motion controls and the Minority Report type interface proved either false or still in the cooker. For hardcore fans, we already know about the lineup they had and there was nothing new there. It seems alot of attention went to Live and the casual crowd on this one. The FFXIII shocker was more of a side note.

You make a good point and something I was thinking about after the announcement. They are making so many RPG's and it seems they are pulling people off different projects to help out with existing projects. Now that FFXIII will face more delays to get released, it many not come out on the 360 until 2010 and by then the 720 might be the next big machine on the horizon. FFXIII may not sell many 360's as it may catch the platform at its tail end.

Of course they should spend money on 3rd party exclusives. This is a business and Sony's goal is to sell as many consoles as they can. How do you do that, by having the best exclusive games on your system first and foremost. MS understands this, which is why they burn through checks.

When you have 100 million consoles sold, then you can sit back and let the 3rd parties decide to make an exclusive to your system on their own, but right now they need to be in their best fighti...
