I can just see his face as the clerk is taking the box out of his clutches and walking it back to the storeroom with all the other copies.
Use your best Patrick and Spongebob voices
"but, but, but... it's shiny"
"You know what else is shiny?"
"ICE CREAM!!!"
I will say this for Epic and Cliff, after just finishing Gears for the first time, his statement that he designs a core gameplay and builds around it is spot on. This is opposed to alot of developers that try and toss in the bells and whistles but miss the basic fun in the game. Gears is just fun: the shooting feels great, the cover system is great, the banter between the guys is great. Sure it has faults but at the end of the day you had a great time playing it. That's all I ask for in a...
I don't think Sony has dropped the ball on marketing. You have only so much you can budget to marketing and spread that across all your titles. What this author is suggesting could sap a budget in no time.
What I really think they should have done is get some promotion going with McD's. A Sackboy is a perfect Happy Meal gift: cheap to make, small, fun for kids and adults would collect it for the coolness of it. That is one area they should have jumped all over.
The key is will it catch fire and keep going or will this next wave of games just be another spark that dies down.
It seems like games drop in price pretty quickly these days. So many titles out there, it's hard to justify buying it and have it sit on the shelf before I can get to it. It's especially worse if by the time you get to it, the price has already dropped. Having said that I'll pick up LBP right away.
He didn't mention: let Santa spend his coin on xmas games. What's better then buying a game? Letting someone else buy it for you.

My prediction of the scores they give
Fable 2, LBP and Dead Space respectively.
I thought Gamecock published Legendary? Did it move to Atari or is it copublished?
I think you mentioned an interesting topic. I've thought about this recently as I see games moving away from such harsh penalties of the past for death in some instances.
Now, he didn't say there is no penalty for dying. You lose some experience and your character has a physical change (scarring, ugliness, etc).
I applaud Lionhead for trying a new approach. No one wants to die in a game. You want to progress the story. Dying means you failed at the task at h...
"Fable II will charm you, thrill you, and leave you very, very happy."
Seems like it satisfies the very basic reason we play games.
I'm really looking forward to it. I grabbed Fable: The Lost Chapters the other day and want to play through that first.
There are a number of games on the Wii that I'm glad I only rented. It's harder to pick a sure winner on the Wii than the other platforms.
You might be on to something there vhero. The LBP's with the song they had to remove might have some value later in life. Sort of like those stamps that misprinted. Who knows.
Sounds interesting. Hopefully, they can pull it off.
Going to be interesting game of the year showdown. All the big hitters seem to be coming through and even some that aren't the 800 lb gorillas like Dead Space are hitting homeruns. Nice change from a few months back when games were underperforming.
I'm still trying to find out where the news is in this story? Some gamer doesn't enjoy a particular style of game. Ok, I'm not so fond of racing games. Do I need to write a full page blog about it and advertise it as news?
I was pulling for this game to do well. I enjoy a hack and slash and even found Conan to be a decent enough romp. Looks like things didn't work out so well.
Secret Level was the developer on this game and their last game was the not so well received Iron Man, so maybe it just wasn't in the cards.
I don't even know which model is which in the comparison.
I really hope there is more to Home then what the Beta is showing. Right now it is rather dull even with 30-40 people milling around. It's neat to walk up and watch a movie, dance, decorate your pad the first time, but unless the content is really dynamic it gets old pretty fast.
Within Home, you do pull out a virtual PSP and have a series of XMB choices you can make.
I'm waiting for the day I come across a gun in some FPS and Aaron Greenburg pops up out of the ground shaking his head no and wagging his finger and says, "This weapon is XBox 360 only".
It's easy to find when you have a team of MS employees led by Aaron Greenberg scouring every last bit in the game for something to trip up Sony. The guy who reported it is just a patsy. What was his name... Lee Harvey something or other?
