I have some I've gotten as gifts that I just haven't gotten to yet. I also picked up some older used PS2/XBox games that are dirt cheap that I'll get to eventually. I don't like to get games new for $59.99 only to find they have dropped to $39.99 by the time I play them. Games drop in price so quickly it is hard to justify grabbing it if I don't intend on playing it right away.
It's amazing to me how games lose their value so rapidly. Even games that are well received like Mass Effect are selling at half price a year later. Is there any other product (that doesn't deteriorate over time like food) that sees such a dramatic drop? Wish I could go to a car lot and get the '07s at half price :)
I keep hearing the age of exclusives is gone, but there are still tons of exclusives around that aren't published by 1st party or bought by them:
Disgae 3
Tales of Vesperia (did MS pay for this one?)
Ninja Blade
Valkyria Chronicles
Red Alert 3
Left 4 Dead
FFXIII V.
Bully
Velvet Assassin
Yakuza 3
Maybe he can get a job at Rockstar as a consultant. He stands outside their offices with picket signs as it is. Might as well come in and make himself useful.
HV has a chance to garner some big sales to the core gamers that have a Wii. If they made this on the PS360 it would be just another shooter, but coming from the Wii and looking top notch for a Wii title. Now they just have to make sure the gameplay is up to snuff.
Wait until next election when we can vote through the Wii. Then he will be telling us to pick it up ;)
I would imagine after spending years on a project you would be a little nervous when it finally is released to the world.
It amazes me how the next gen argument that cut scenes are interactive is such a great bullet point item. Didn't Assassins Creed tout this and now Fable II? What exactly could I do in AC, change my camera angles, walk around a little? How is that better than an all out cut scene?
This game has potential to be a good movie if they do it well. It can stand on its own as a sci-fi horror movie even without the game tie in provided they make some necessary changes to turn it into a movie (more people that are alive).
Not a surprise. It is EA after all and what successful game doesn't have a followup these days?
I'd like to see them spread their wings and move to new environments.
Peter has alot of passion for what he does. That is refreshing considering how stifling the game industry can be.
I can just hear it.
"I just finished Chrono Trigger"
"You did?!? Ummm... and nothing strange happened"
"Not really, I just did the main quest, wasn't interested in the side quests"
"You always do the side quests! You didn't go to Crazy Mountain and fight the Bumbling Bees!!!???"
"Nope, took to much time"
"GO TO CRAZY MOUNTAIN! I SPENT HOURS... I ...
Devil May Cryonetta
I actually enjoyed Vikings. If you can overlook the glitches and some of the odd design decisions, underneath there was a fun game.
Dark Sector sells for $19.99 now which is a great price.
Chevy vs Ford
Red Sox vs Yankees
PC vs Mac
PS3 vs 360
You'll find fanboys in all walks of life and for all reasons.
Console makers ramp up profits as the years tick by. The money is made on software sales. Early on you have fewer consoles in customers hands and you are selling them at a loss and selling less software, so it is tough to make money. As the console sales increase, you sell more software and make more money. You can either lower the cost of the console as the cost of production goes down like MS is doing or keep it higher like Sony is doing. Either direction has it pros and cons. Sony is...
The Wii has that nice glut of shovelware and kiddie games.
World at War looks packed to the gills with the goodies. It was a luxury Treyarch didn't have to create an engine, so they could focus on content and extras. Plus having the success IW had with CoD 4 put that extra bit of competition for Treyarch to go the extra mile.
In any case, the preview of the zombie mode made me think of Left 4 Dead.
Ironically, the further the user score is from the critics score the less of an impact it will have on visitors. If I came to metacritic blind and I see a 95 and the user score is around 50 I would smell a skunk. If the user score was about 80, then it would seem more legitimate.
In any case, yes it is just another bullet in the console war and I imagine from here on out Metacritic exclusives will all suffer the same fate. At least the owners of Metacritic will do something ...
First of all Wii Play sold like hotcakes because it was packed in with a Wiimote, so you can discard its sales numbers. Second there are tons of Wii's out there and a good number of core players with one as at least their secondary device. This game will sell. It might have gotten lost on the PS360 with all the other shooters, but it stands out on the Wii.
