I picked up 1-4 on the PSP and DS and playing them in order. Just finished 1, so I'm still early in the process. 1 is definitely dated, but still had fun with it. A little too easy and random monsters every 3 steps can wear on you.
Alert, Alert! This is Bruce on Games. Run away, run for your life before he converts you to his MS crusade.
I don't see why they can't commit some resources to new IP. Look at big time devs like Bioware who are all over the place with RPG's on the DS to MMO's. IW and Bungie's name and reputation alone will carry whatever new IP they come up with.
Activision is so full of poo poo. Are you going to tell me they are going to not support PS3 on games that they already have engines built for like GH and MW. It's a no brainer. They are just cutting off their nose to spite their face. They sell millions of PS3 units for their top tier games.
This is all posturing to pressure Sony into dropping the price. Sony will make their own decisions.
What is all the paranoia about EA-MS partnership? You don't usually give the other guy your execs and then partner with them. What does EA stand to gain by publishing for MS? They would just cut their revenue to about 1/3 and go out of business.
I don't think there is any hidden agenda here. The guy once worked for EA, now he got a good offer and wants back. I find it funny they told the existing EA COO someone wants his job so he bolted which basically means he got the boot...
Unfortunately, when everything goes digital we will be at the mercy of publishers and console makers to set whatever price they want on older games as the used market will dry up. I was going to pull down Fable, only to find the Lost Chapters version for half as much and with more content used at Gamestop.
If the Jonas brothers aren't in this game, then I'm not playing... oh wait, they are in the US, never mind.
Of the 30,000 there is a small % of them that are passionate about the cause, the rest are just opportunists hoping to get a free game or at least a reduced price by joining in. It's not like the 30,000 have all agreed to a 3 day hunger strike outside of Valve's offices. In the end, Valve is going to do what they are going to do. The article does raise a good point, at least the consumers are getting their voices heard with help from the internet and that can only be a good thing.
but 3rd party exclusives are dead?
Nolan also did Prince in Prince of Persia which I couldn't shake the Nathan feeling every time I heard him speak. Very distinct voice.
To resell the engine like Epic is a big support issue and headache. You have to have constructed it to be easily used by others as well as documentation, samples and all that jazz. If people are paying you money, you need developers and support on your side to help them out. Not an easy thing to do without a great deal of preparation.
I read the article in Game Informer and was intrigued to see R* taking a chance on something that might not jive with the norm. Gamers constantly scream that we get the same old game over and over and this is a good example of trying to expand on that. Whether they pull it off or not is a different story, but you have to give R* credit for making a character whose looks might not be the most appealing.
"I can’t remember a day that people who have no stake in the profitability of our company have not called for a price cut."
While it is true people outside of Sony are asking for a price cut, publishers need console sales to sell their software, so they have a valid reason to want Sony to cut the price. Of course they don't run Sony, so they can make as much noise as they want. Ultimately, it isn't their decision to make.
I'm surprised with the # of people involved on projects increasing (Assassin's Creed 2 has what, 450 people on that project?) and with the internet, that anyone can keep anything a secret anymore. All it takes is one guy telling his wife about this cool thing he did at work and her mentioning it to her sister while her nephew is in the next room playing COD4. Then the nephew jumps on a forum and says how cool the next A.Creed is going to be.
In any event, you have to be the fir...
The big hurdle MS has to clear to convince devs to create games based on it is the fact that it is a peripheral and not packed with every 360. This means devs have to either have a game that supports a traditional control scheme as well as supporting Natal or MS has to pony up some cash to get games created for Natal. Nintendo obviously has the advantage because everyone has a Wiimote, but publishers will want to see how well Natal sells before investing heavily in it. A $100+ peripheral i...
Gamers sure have a short memory. The Orange Box was probably the greatest value in gaming and Valve is no slouch with updates to their existing games as well as great deals on DLC. I don't see them doing this to milk their fanbase. Valve would be the last company to do that. I'm sure they have legitimate reasons to call this a sequel rather than DLC.
The first task Sony and MS have is to convince 3rd parties to take the plunge and develop a game for their motion systems. Unless the devs provide a traditional control as backup, they have to take a leap of faith that enough people will purchase the motion controllers to justify sales of their game. This means both MS and Sony have to blaze the trail with their own titles and show significant sales of their controllers to convince them. Nintendo has a great advantage here because everyone...
"You can never abuse Milo," according to Molyenux. There are things in place to prevent Milo from being subverted by your penis drawings and crude questions.
well there goes all my fun.
Wait just a minute, I thought 3rd party exclusives are dead? Did someone forget to tell Tecmo?
The point analysts miss is that features like Facebook and Twitter are nice bullet items for MS, but how is it going to attract new users and revolutionize the console? In order for something like this to work, it has to be a better option than what is out there. My wife is a diehard Facebook and Twitter user. She doesn't take a dump without tweeting about it. When she saw the E3 mention of it she said, "so, If I'm not at my laptop, I can just use my iPhone to check in, why would I ...
