An exec should know better than to make a passing remark on a call that is widely attended by industry analysts and will be transcripted and reported on. Even if he meant it as a joke, it will be interpreted anyway the media pleases.
It's just pure hypocrisy that he can verbally abuse and threaten Sony for not lowering prices and within the same breath not only raise prices to exploit a top selling game, but to claim he would raise prices higher if he could get away with it. Th...
R&C???
Silly reasons to label a few points that make a game good. I could point to tons of games that are great without some or all of those points. Tetris is the most popular game in the world and it has none of the author's points except replayability.
A good game is simple to define. A game that keeps you entertained. Just like a book or a movie, a game is entertaining to you for your own personal reasons.
How many parents are spending a $100.00/month for a kid's iPhone? I know in this recession I won't be getting my kids an iPhone. The PSPGo is expensive at $250.00, but that is nothing when you look at how much an iPhone costs over the span of its lifetime.
The kid said games are cheaper on the iPhone, did he factor in that the iPhone costs $3.00/day?
I have an avatar?
MW2 is coming 11/10/09 and this was due out in September? How does the sale of a game 2 months later affect this? Publishers need to grow a pair. It used to be they were too scared to release outside of the holiday season. Now they are too scared to release during it.
Looked it up, Nolan has 8 kids from 12 to 40 in age (man was busy). He also owned Chuck-e-Cheese at one point in time. Interesting life. Didn't they make a movie about him not too long ago?
Of course the game has gone gold and will be in stores next week, so no more coding will take place.... oh wait a minute, the game releases in 2010, I guess they still have a little time to put some more code in and optimize.
Nolan was born in 1943 which makes him 66. He said he made this games to compete with his sons... How old are his sons - 30's, 40's?
Do you really think MW2 is the most expensive game to develop and requires the large increase in price? It has an existing engine, it only took 2 years to create, the game doesn't need a large advertising campaign to sell, there's little risk involved. No, MW2 is just a test to see if they can jump in price. If it works, other big name titles will follow suit and eventually even 2nd tier titles will increase in price as the newer price becomes accepted. MW2 is the prime game to lead the w...
Yup, too true.
Nice avatar btw... a classic.
Lol. That's true.
"Doctor, what about today's session. Aren't we going to talk about how my mother kept me from playing games as a child?"
"Shut up kid! If you don't heal me soon we will die right here and I'll never complete my armor set.... Geeze, is it 3am already?"
This is known as cybersquatting. There has been legisltation for about 10 years to curtail people snatching up trademarks or common names in the hopes of profiting from them. You can wind up in court if you aren't careful.
They are moving it for financial reasons. Even if there was a PS3 version, they would have had to be knee deep in it already to get it out in 8 months.
Project Natal: The Savior of the US Economy.
The economy is going South and has been for close to 2 years as is evidenced by this graph right here: (insert graph here).
What will save the economy? Project Natal of course. The first director to make an interactive movie will save the economy.
My article has as much research and valid conclusive arguments as this one.
Isn't the term bribe a bit much here? A bribe has a negative connotation as if it is shady or illegal. Any store that offers a sale to get you to come in is bribing you. You could just as easily say MS or Sony pays a developer a service fee for bringing the title to their system first.
If you read the interview they point out at the end of the news story, they talk about using the cast of Firefly for voice work on ODST and then the question if the new game was based on Firefly didn't get a "no" response from Bungie (or a yes for that matter).
I really hope consumers vote with their wallets and the price hike compared to the loss of sales hurts Activision. That's the only way to get the point across and the only thing that conglomerate publishers understand. At least EA turned a corner and realized they have actual people as customers and not just wallets. They started original IP, a successful EA Partners program and at least their PR seems to give respect to the gamer. What has Activision done? They dumped all their "ri...
Been waiting to hear something about this game. The E3 talk by Cameron in the Ubi presentation was lame and no screenshots/gameplay at the time. They better start getting on the hype train if this comes out holiday season.
Good that the demo is turning out well. I was worried when they delayed the game that it was trouble and whenever Eidos is involved you never know what could happen.
Incidentally, I'm playing TR:Underworld another Eidos game and despite its flaws, it is an enjoyable game.
