IW would be where they are regardless of Treyarch. The same can't be said for Treyarch.
I found WaW to have some poor design decisions. The game itself wasn't too bad, but no other game I have played in recent memory has been so "invisible line" oriented. Unfortunately, you find out that your heroes put their pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us. Usually you build up this image that no one can ever live up to. I'm into special FX art more as a hobby than anything else. I got a chance to visit the studio of someone heavy into the Hollywood biz and very well known. I was nervous for weeks, but when I got there, he was a total maniac and not in a good way. I wished I had not gone.

@Dark Witness - I've seen nothing but support from those of us in the US about the price hike in the UK. Maybe we just visit different forums and sites. In the end it will affect us all if Activision can get away with it. MW2 is a rental for me anyway, but I'm not a big multiplayer, so I'm not really sacrificing.
Actually a better review than I expected. Once I saw Southpeak games was publishing it, I feared the worst.

Apple is lucky to have been the underdog in the past and to have been seen as hip and cool to own their products. They play off that image well in their advertising. This has extended to the iPod, iPhone. Not to mention they have done well with design and marketing.

Activision has set it up for bashing, IW is pretty much a victim. With the higher pricing Activision has said we have the best game and we know it. You'll buy it at whatever price we set. With alot of big name titles moving out to '10 (not Activisions doing), it also sets it up for more bashing.

Wolverine was a guilty pleasure. I think I wound up in the neighborhood of 1300 kills when all was said and done... quite alot of death for one mutant to dish out.

Tomb Raider:Underworld had some good fire. I don't recall how good anymore, but I remember thinking it was good at the time I played it.

Halo 3 was the system seller. Now all the Halo fans have a 360 and since this is the 3rd Halo game to come out this gen, I don't expect it to move consoles like Halo 3 did. Same argument if MGSV was to come out for the PS3 exclusive. IV would have captured the biggest sales of PS3's as the first MGS this generation.

I cried last night in GTAIV. Got 20 minutes into a mission, all I had to do was drive Roman home to finish it and as I was leaving, I bumped a propane tank and blew up my car. Checkpoints would be nice.
Seriously though, the article makes a good point that most of the emotional parts of the game are portrayed in cut scenes, not during the gameplay. It is much easier to draw out emotions during passive entertainment like a cut scene.

Publishers do not want risk. Risk could cost them alot of money, so going with the tried and true on big budget titles is what they aim for. Just look at Activision who only want to publish games from a healthy franchise or a known commodity like movie or superhero based games. This is where big business clashes with artistic creativity. What the industry needs are these downloadable games, the iPhone apps, the small budget games that need to stand out from the crowd by being creative. ...
