I feel the price drop is a litmus test by Microsoft to see the effectiveness of a price drop. If it shifts more units in the uk due to this price cut then depending on the volume the United states will follow.
Game reviewers will beg to differ.
On the 1-10 scale a reviewer uses to rate games, graphics effect that score so when it comes to multiplatform games playing the same but looking better on one console then that console has the better games (multiplat wise).
If you are trying to suggest that the ps4 won't have any fun and exciting exclusive games and just graphically impressive ones then your being a little blind.
Both consoles will have ...
This is from an investor website not a gaming one... If the world of investors is taking a bigger notice of this stuff then how long until it sways the opinions of more of microsofts board members?
Xbox one had better tread lightly
Titanfall is designed around online play it makes sense because it uses multiple human players.
Plants vs zombies is a 1 player puzzle/tower defense game. It being always online makes no sense outside of marketing stuff.
Bit of a difference there.
Why would a company do this after the backlash last year...
Oh right... EA.
I am not knocking the game at all just to be clear just the 1-10 scoring method and what it has become.
5 is average and anything above that is a good game, if the reviewer genuinely believes the game is lacking then the score should reflect the reviewers opinion... He has a full scale to utilize.
But as always with reviews people seem to use the 7-10 scale 7 being average and 10 being awesome and anything below 7 needs to be used to insult a game for glarin...
The funny thing is that xbox fans everywhere will say the xbox 1 is still selling well despite it being less than ps4 and it is hardly in a tough spot.
What they fail to see is that with a bigger install base game developers will want to make games in a ps4 focused way and that is bad news for the xbox one. Microsoft may have enough money to throw around to score exclusives but the more xbox 1 seems to fail the less investors will be willing to... well invest.
8 would be a score you give to an 'amazing' or must buy game...
I would definitely hope that any games getting an 8 would have 'it'.
8 is damn near perfect after all.
Sadly people do... you should load up the comments section sometime. A lot of desperate people for sure...
Mrxmedia is a nut ball, it's interesting to me how someone who has such a bad grasp of the english language (which is ok) expects the readers of his blog to believe that his "insiders" are as inept as at English as he is and in mostly the same ways.
Anybody who can't see its just Mr x making it all up is being delusional.
I'm not saying multiplayer games are not fun, they just don't give me what I personally want from games as a gamer. I'm not knocking your tastes at all and I feel there is little need for you to be as defensive as you seem.
Mmo's are not effected by the efforts of one player as a whole. Once you do a mission it comes back and while your character can progress through your efforts the story often does not. This takes away a great sense of reward and progress yo...
That's what makes me lean more towards Sony right now. More single player games. I realize online multiplayer has its place and I respect that I just hope the industry respects the fact that many consumers still want a single player experience.
Do you know how much of a stronger story driven narrative and immersion experience single player games produce?
I play games to be entertained and immersed into a story or a world as somewhat of an escape kinda like when I read... I don't read with other people either.
It has nothing to do with my skills as a gamer and everything to do with why I got into gaming to begin with.
@melman
Of course the average consumer cares about power...
The average consumer compares products all the time, that's why things like Amazon have user reviews. There are websites where you can flat out compare products side by side because the average consumer usually does research into a product before making an investment.
The argument of the average consumer not caring about product specs is redundant and I'm sick of seeing it us...
This gen will decide which theory is more true.
Does hardware drive software sales?
Or does software drive hardware sales?
Right now the big argument against Sony is "it haz no gamez" and the big argument against xbox one is that the hardware is weaker...
If sales don't change much for Ms after the release of titanfall we will have our answer.
Personally I loved all the bioshock games even bioshock 2 and in the hands of the right team I think the franchise can flourish. Let's hope 2k get it right.
Cable doesn't make it everywhere in the state(us) I live and satellite isn't an option either.
not everywhere is as connected as you might think.
I have no at home Internet so it's a can't play for me... yay for being in a sucky demographic the industry seems intent on shedding!
I play games for a single player experience if gaming really does go in a direction that just caters to online multiplayer games then I'm afraid I will likely have to stop gaming.
I agree. I see that price cuts naturally happen in the world of electronics but this early on is a little much. I'm sure there are some upset people out their who bought a full price xbox one and just feel ripped off now.
A rebate would ease that but I doubt it will happen
