Well microsoft decided this one for me. I don't wanna buy the internet just to play games and I'm not buying a system that *seems* like it won't look its best graphically without the "power of the cloudy interwebz". Ps4 for me, its powerful enough to compete on its own legs
Last gen, at least between Microsoft and sony was a format war as well as a console war. It was blu ray vs hd-dvd (xbox had that awful add on remember?). I think microsoft looked at ps3 catching up in sales as a side effect of blu ray winning and more lower middle class people adopting ps3 as a blu ray player. With that in mind I believe microsoft are trying to start a new format war, digital vs physical ownership... of course this was brewing for a while and on different media but microsoft ...
Personally I kinda do want the wii u situatuin with the xbox one. It would be grand if all the devs work with just the ps4 architecture in mind that would mean games wouldn't need to be scaled back for xbox one. But thats a dream, like I said xbone has to many blind fans for that to ever be a reality. Its going to sell many systems however much you or I may not want it to
I remember using the gameboy advance with the wind waker on the gamecube after I read a bunch of hype about how it would enhance gameplay... I think nintendo wanted to go that way for a long time and thats why we have the wiiu controller. With wiiu and vita with ps4 we will have remote play and smartglass type stuff... so I think ms are beat just using cell phones. Sure more people have smart phones than people have vita's but still
We all know the xbox is going to sell to more than 20% of the fan base. I'm no xbox fan but I'm not deluded either. These polls may be acurate in that ps4 seems more popular right now but I don't think they are accurate by how much. However it would be kinda chuckle worthy if it was as bad as polls are saying for xbox one
I read an article once that said we play games because it helps us fulful maslows pyramid of needs. Apparently they make us feel accomolished and self actualized and such which makes sense with how passionate some people are about leaderboards and gamerscores... I just play for fun though personally
Yeah I would love a new baldurs gate with true ad&d rules. The ps2 ones were rubbish and neverwinter nights didn't quite feel the same as baldurs gates story was pretty epic
Yeah it was christmas day I the 80's I was 4 and I got a nes with super mario bros... I had a hard time making some of the jumps on the first level (I was 4 lol) and I was getting frustrated that my dad could do it so easily!!!! Man we played that nintendo to death. Warm memories. Turns out my dad stayed up and practiced the night before and thats how he was so familiar with the game lol I can't wait to do that to my kids
Yeah a kinect rift combo could create a very immersive experience in your living room. The rift could play some kind of shooter with you as you move around your own space and the kinect could tell the rift how far and in what direction you have moved to translate it in game and also put any obsticles (tables ect) in game so you don't trip on them or walk into them. Of course you would need a big space but its an awesome idea!!!! Not sure if the xbox one would be relivant at thay point tho...
I agree with this. A game for me is all about immersion and the oculus rift looms very immersive. Getting tired from flapping about trying to play with kinect or trying to remember the correct gesture to do something in game sounds like it would detract from immersion more than anything
I have been waiting since the playstation eye and kinect 1 to see them be used in a way that could revolutionize gaming or even be more fun. People can say that devs didn't take them seriously because they were not manditory divices last gen but truth be told something revolutionary would have sold and made money. If devs couldnt think of a way to profit last gen I am skeptical they will this gen. They will make very impressive workouts devices though but a wii is cheaper for that I suppo...
I would like to see what articles have been proven to be misinformation by journalists to smear the xbox one. I can't just believe that someone with nothing to gain from it did that based soley on the article authors assertions that this is so. Seems a little paranoid to me
I am starting to think that the advertising on xbox one is the reason kinect is manditory. MS will get a lot of revenue from advertising and making adverts interactive is a great way of getting advertisers to believe people would pay more attention to their advers... if this is the case its not very consumer oriented at all since I know on my part at least I can't stand advertisements
Actually if you know how to shop you can buy your own compoments and build your own quite cost effectively. My brother in law just put his own together and its fully capable of playing all the newer games at the higher end resolution graphics for close to $500
It doesn't matter because if I wanted a pc I would buy one and have much more control over more aspects of it than I ever could a home gaming console. $500 could likely buy me a pc much more capable than xbox one with more functionality. If I buy a home console for gaming it will be one that isn't predending not to be what it is
Sorry that wasn't my point I was not trying to pick on miiverse. My comment was meant to be about what peter moore said in the article about wiiu feeling like an offline experience. I am glad that it does. Sadly though it seems thanks to the popularity of 12 yr olds swearing and penis measuring on xbox live that, that's where the future of gaming should lean.... I hope the hardcore gaming comunity (meaning those who will pump 120+ hours grinding for levels) can recover from the damage...
I hate how people talk about social/online features being the future of gaming... I'm not interested in using gamerscores or showing off as a measure of my gaming skills. I play to have a fun experience and be absorbed into a fantasy world frankly anything else will be a distraction. Its sad how people bring up how the big N and people who want to keep games offline (except for multiplayer and mmo obv) are living in the past.... the past was pretty awesome!!! Because rather than put the required update to play online on game disks (I have updated my consoles many times this way in the past) microsoft decided that a 1 tims manditory online update was the way to go. Sorry if my putting my middle finger back up at them is hard to understand for you.
