I agree it would be good to know how much of a technical bump this will offer.
consumers need to know which system is the most powerful and has more Bang for its buck. If xbox can definitively say it can out perform ps4 it may bump sales even if people are waiting forever for the update (I believe article says holiday 2015)
The question is just how much of a difference the 50% bump in cpu optimization translates into a performance bump for the xbox one.
It would be nice to have someone around to let us know. I don't think another 50% on the cpu alone translates to 50% more power all around.

I agree that graphics are less important than gameplay and good story telling. That being said there is no reason a great game can have all 3. A great game with good graphics gameplay and story telling is better than the same game with good gameplay and story telling.
If I have 2 versions of a single game where one version looks better but plays the same then of course I will pick the game that has superior graphics.

I just love grinding and the job system, I am not to invested in the story yet but if it gets repetitive I can turn down the encounter rate and skip my way through until I get to more interesting territory
Hopefully square takes the hint that there is a market for traditional jrpg's and we see more of them on both handheld and consoles. Bravely default is a fun game and deserves the sales.

Most game makers are male, and when people make a story they draw on their own fantasies which are usually an empowerment of themselves or characters like themselves.
male game developers identify better with male characters that's all.
I'm by no means saying that story tellers are incapable of writing/creating a female protagonist just that they are more likely to create one that relates more to them and their idea of powerful.

Yeah its scary how much an all digital gamer could end up paying... imagine downloading a 20gb game on a 10gb data cap and having to pay for the overage.... ouch! And that's 1 game! A month!
Another negative to consider is the fact that net neutrality is now gone.
Internet service providers in the coming years are set to introduce net tariffs and data caps which will put a big cap on downloading or streaming games or any entertainment medium for that matter.
The future of the internet in regard to all digital is far to uncertain at this point to say it's a sure thing or even a good move.

I think the resolution debate mostly applies to multiplats.
The gameplay for multiplatform games is the same on each system so of course resolution will be a talking point especially when you can get a higher one on a cheaper system.
As for exclusives then no its not worth mentioning at all unless the graphics are so bad it's detrimental to gameplay which I don't believe has happened yet.

The appearance of women in video games has had on my younger years quite a profound impact on me as a male. Mainly because of how men are portrayed in video games also. I will say as the person who wrote the article did that I enjoy video games and I understand that they are based in the fantasy of the creator/consumer and I cherish that medium and escape.
