I have the belief that this game was created by some of Miyamoto's new pupils. He has said for some time that by the time he retires he wants to pass down his philosophies and design skills to a new generation of Nintendo designers, since they can't always rely on him.
Splatoon is created by EAD which is the main Nintendo branch. And if you noticed Miyamoto's new IP's (Battle Robots and GUARD) aren't exactly industry busting games, rather fun ideas he'...
This game could satisfy my need for TimeSplitters. Create a bunch of crazy, creative game modes, poke fun at gaming and entertainment tropes, take humorous approach to pain and death, throw in some community designed multiplayer.
We get too many serious shooters nowadays. Give me something that isn't afraid to run wild. DT might be that game
I need to see a full list of game modes. After seeing an hour of Turf War I was ready for something else. And I'm in the same boat as Devil's Third. They won't be visually impressive games but will rely on replayability and variety to get buyers
It has an interesting concept which has many possibilities
Nintendo needs to do whatever they want with Zelda's art style. Pick the style that lends best to visual consistency. The Tech Demo Zelda would work in dungeons, but in a full Open World the WiiU would run into issues (i'm guessing). They've yet to falter on their unique styles so I'm all for the cel-shaded, enhanced Skyward Sword look.
Against better conferences Nintendo would've looked mediocre, but their whole Digital Event concept was a success, the Sm...
Amiibo will make them money. Some people will buy them even if they don't own a WiiU or 3DS since they look pretty neat. Create an open world adventure game where you play as Mii's but can import a character and customizable parts with influences from other games. Play a game like Xenoblade where you can add weapon skins like a Master Sword or Mario Hammer.
You will pay $8-$10 for a figurine for one game but by the end of the generation it will be used in 5 or more ga...
Also MGS: Revengeance gameplay and a whole slew of games
I'd love to have Banjo-Kazooie, a dual character you can't separate.
Dark Pit will be an alternate costume
If they're bringing back Game and Watch they're bringing back Ness and Cpt Falcon, I don't see why they wouldn't
Like many I'm holding out for Shulk, and I also want Snake and Wolf to return (they were my favorites from Brawl though it's unlikely)
I was 100% wrong about Pac-Man being in this game. I thought he would be a generic fighter but all the Namco references makes him a worthy fighter. And to think I doubted a game that's legendary for how it treats legendary games
The thing is Nintendo had more than just a 45 minute video. Right after the video they demoed Devil's Third as an Exclusive, had a Smash tourney, revealed the likes of Mario Party, Star Fox concept, some Miyamoto projects. Plus they had a site dedicated to Nintendo demos, I was able to sit and watch non-stop gameplay footage
The Robot Chicken stuff was gold, the intro was awesome, the Dev Diaries suited their Japanese designers well (no painful translations).
If it was made by Valve no one would care about the visuals. Nintendo might even contribute a little. I can see a TF2/Timeplitters approach to this game: zany game modes, willing to poke fun at itself, diverse weapons.
At first I thought it would a Tough Guy, standard shooter. Gameplay showed multiplayer could be really fun
What's the criteria?
Number of Exlusives: Nintendo
Most games: Xbox, PS4 (fairly close)
Older Demographic: Sony/MS
Targeted the broadest base: Nintendo
Most enjoyable conference/video: Nintendo
Best overall perormance throughout E3: Nintendo
Lived up to hype? Probably Nintendo
Nintendo really came out swinging, showing they can support the WiiU by themselves if need be. The Smash event, ZeldaU video, StarFox...
My only quip: the protagonist is silent. Shulk's interactions is a big reason Xeno was so good, if I have to look at a mute character for 100 hours I'm gonna be sad
The rest of it is everything I hoped for, just need to see some more environments
I hope there are tons of game modes and maps. Watching the same map and mode for a awhile got stale after a several matches, with interesting game modes it will be worth $50-$60, though I could see an eShop release for like $20 if it's not too expansive
My biggest concern is your character has no dialogue in the cutscenes so far. If you're a silent protagonist I will be disappointed, I dislike the concept outside of Zelda/Metroid and Xenoblade thrived off of the interaction of Shulk and the other characters.
A part of me doesn't think it will live up to Xenoblade, but to me the game looks gorgeous. XC has a huge shadow, they might've wanted to step out of it for a little. I also hope they continue with exotic loc...
I loved the Robot Chicken scenes. Especially the beginning where Regi comments on how people said Nintendo wasn't going to be at E3.
Also the epic Iwata-Regi fight scene had me dieing. "For not showing up" Nintendo really showed up.
You won't be disappointed. My MK8 bundle was completely worth.
Nintendo to the rescue...again
The list has no 1st party games atm
The Nintendo base is split unevenly between pure 1st party buyers and people like me who buy 3rd party if they think it's worth it. I was super-hyped for Watch Dogs on WiiU but now that it's been delayed and not as gamebreaking as I thought I'm less inclined to spend $60 on it. I only have a WiiU for current gen and would gladly get Far Cry 4 on release but Ubisoft would be lucky to break 100,000 since most people who own WiiU might not be interested (as we would assume).
