I can vouch that this is an awesome game. Been playing it for years. And if your lucky and smart, you can make a profit of real life money from this game.
Wow just noticed my messed up words in that last post lol. Quite the mind burp. Fixed:
"That kind of behavior is the same thing Microsoft and many other companies have been sued over. They try to control the industry to their advantage. Brings on an Anti-Trust lawsuit."
@1: That's kind of behavior is the same thing Microsoft and many other countries have been sued over. They try to control the industry to their advantage. Brings on an Anti-Trust lawsuit.
This article is stupid.
If the XP mode wasn't there, then these people wouldn't be upgrading. And thus they would still be on XP anyways! And thus still be vulnerable.
This just helps people move over to Windows 7, making it more likely that they will eventually switch away from XP mode and join the new generation.
Well there's keeping up, and then there's being an early adopter. Should only buy it if you need it. Tech is always majorly over priced when it's first released. That's the price ya pay to be one of the first.
If your going for a high end machine, then Larrabee isn't a good choice. Stick to a high end CPU such as i7 920, and use a non integrated GPU.
That's the thing, why wait until someone max's it? Once it's maxed, then people have to sit around waiting for a new spec. They are preparing for the future, so we have the tech ready when we need it.
I don't understand people who say it's too expensive.
Your happy to pay for a video game console that cost's a few hundred dollars. But your not willing to pay for a new operating system that your probably going to use every day for more than an hour, for $120?
It's the cost of like 2-3 videos games. Big whoop! Your buying something you use more than anything else, except clothes..
It's easily worth the small investment.
The difference between "high" & "very high" in Crysis is immense. If I remember correctly, it's only running DX9 at high and below. But at very high it's on DX10 and looks heaps better.
Uhh lol. The Xbox doesn't have a different graphics API than PC. It uses DX9, along with an ATI GPU. Porting to and from the 360 & PC is easy. Now the PS3 on the other hand, while it does use a Nvidia GPU, the rest is very different compared to PC's. So in that area it is complicated.
Developers just tend to be lazy when porting to another console or PC. Take Bionic Commando for example. They didn't even bothered to change the 360 button press icons and descriptions to that o...
Occlusion culling is now dead with DX11. Because DX11 can do tessellation on hardware that supports it. Tessellation gives a MUCH BETTER effect than occlusion culling, with a lot more control over amount of detail, all while running much faster than occlusion culling does.
A bumpy road in a game for example. Based on the bump map, Tessellation actually creates the bumpy geometry using special algorithms, while occlusion culling only creates the illusion of geometry.
You need ray-tracing, or something similar for that. So I'd put away those hopes for another 3-5 years at least. Because even doing ray-tracing on a GPU, or single purpose made hardware such as Caustic's ray-tracing hardware, the performance hit is way to big for it to be used reasonably in any 3D game made in the past 6 years lol.
The point is that these cards are a lot more powerful hardware wise than the current generation. Plus you'll be able to utilize all the DX11 optimizations of Windows 7. And have a card for when DX11 games do come out. There's already a few coming out by the end of the years and Q1 2010.
There only going to beat them in release date. Nvidia has quite the performer under it's sleeve.
And what makes them the king? What, because they're considered "Open Source"? Which btw, OS X isn't.
There's nothing that makes them a better system. Other than low market share. And the fact that you've never used Windows makes your argument even less worthy.
Yeah same, Windows 7 feels like an acceptable successor to XP.
I've been using the same stock Microsoft laser mouse for about 7 years now, works great.
How exactly does it pale in comparison? What exactly about Mac's GUI is more efficient or better? Not being able to right click? Oh yeah, that's great...
Obviously they aren't going to radically change the layout. That was one of the main reasons that made Vista adoption rate so poor. Lot's of people didn't like the idea of a whole new change to an interface they had become comfortable with over the years. If they did that again with 7, that would be disastrous. The only real visual change is the Aero bar at the bottom, which is a nice improvement.
On the performance/stability side, a lot has been optimized and improved. A lot of ...
Very good work they've done here. Can't wait till they get it ported to OpenCL and release it. Will really help reduce render times! It's a dream come true lol.
LOL.
Aion only uses the first CryEngine. The game in this story is using the CryEngine2. Which is ages ahead. It's the same thing Crysis uses.
