Well I wouldn't really say the processors are on the same level. I think it's more that no games can use their full potential yet. The Core i7 does a lot of non gaming related tasks that can utilize it's power a lot faster than previous processors.

But yeah, currently it's not worth the upgrade for just gaming. Give it another year or 2.

Well, you can't compare NVidia's shaders to ATI's shaders just by numbers. Because their shaders work differently. Nvidia's to this day still have a lot less shaders than ATI's card do. Yet perform around the same. So shader count is best judged only in that companies GPU series. All the other specs can be compared between the 2.

Most likely not if your plan on getting the next generation or 2 after.

It's not viral marketing. It's satirical marketing. If it was viral, they wouldn't link to it on their company page.

The new cards are coming out for sale on supposedly Sept 23rd. But it's looking more like October 3rd or 5th. That's the same day PowerColor is giving away 3 of ATI's new cards of which it hasn't named yet. (But presumably the 5850, as it stated early on as being a $299 card.)

Either way, it's fairly soon.

And for Nvidia not to release a card before the end of November would be disastrous for them. I don't think they are that incompetent. They would be way off their ...

Yeah I hope Nvidia let's some info out soon. I'm really hoping the performance rumors pan out true for the GT300. But well have to wait and see. It doesn't look like Nvidia will be showing it off at the IBC event in Amsterdam this weekend. So only other option would be their GPU Computing Conference (Formerly known as NVISION), which is From Sept 30th-Oct 2nd.

After that there's nothing on their schedule until November 14th. So unless they call a press event like ATI did... =/

Ever tried converting your currency in Paypal to US dollars, then ordering from an online store with international shipping? Could probably save quite a bit.

The new ATI 5000 series chips are being built with a minimum of 3 display pipelines. With the higher end chips having up to 6 pipelines. And thus video card manufacturers can choose to put up to that many display connectors on the back of the cards.

This one has 4:

DirectCompute should work on all DX10 cards. As it works by using the programmable shaders that have been on the cards for a few generations now. But I could be wrong, there may have been some architecture tweak needed for it to work on both NV/ATI programmable shaders.

It's mainly the CPU side improvements that people with DX10 cards should be able to take advantage of. As that part is separate from the GPU. It's more of an OS improvement.

But Tessellation and the new...

Yeah it should cut down on RAM usage quite a bit in games that take advantage of the new texture compression algorithm's it employs. And also at the same time RAM is becoming cheaper. The default RAM amount's on ATI's new 5870 is going to be 1GB/2GB.

Yeah, as Bob said. It's talking about the CPU in that case. There's also improvements in the communication between the CPU and GPU.

Well for me, the internet has helped me become an educated, open minded person. I dropped out of grade 10 due to a lack of care for the school system and being a rebel and whatnot lol. And ended up developing a craving for knowledge after starting to spend more and more time on the internet. And now I'm going to college for 3D modeling & animation. And then planning on going to University for Computer Science later in my life.

Also the grammar nazi's you encounter in online deba...

Yes they could, and not as well. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm just saying that it's stupid for people to say Natal will fail for having such good extra functionality over the PSEye. People complaining about not having enough room for said functionality.

And of course, I'm not saying that Natal will replace all controllers for every game. That's ridiculous also. But what it can do is amplify the experience in those games. Just because your using a controller in an F...

Let's get some things straight here:

The Playstation Eye tracks your hands position by pinpointing the big controller your holding in 3D space using the size of the ball in the video it collects. (The closer the ball comes to the camera, the bigger it gets.) It also has some motion sensing guts like the Wiimote inside, to aid the camera when the image isn't sufficient. (Such as if your holding it behind your back getting ready to swing your bat, and such scenarios.)

...

Deny. There's no difference from waving your arms around while holding a ball on a stick, and waving your arms around while holding nothing. (Oh wait, you don't have to hold anything, that's the difference.)

Natal can do everything the PS Motion Controller/Eye can do, and more. That's what it comes down to. You guys are complaining that Natal has the potential for activities that require a lot of room lol. It's ridiculous.

6134d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

Actually that's not true at all lol. They seem to be unaware that Natal has 2 cameras. The main camera they are talking about has little hand in the tracking side of things. That's what the monochrome infrared camera/sensor is for. It tracks the distance of each pixel, thus able to determine where all your body parts are in 3D space without much work. And the RGB camera is mainly for scanning images into the game, and recognizing faces.

Fact of the matter is, Natal is able to do ...

Someone mind telling me what's the difference between waving your hands around in the air while holding a stick with a ball (Sony Motion Controller), and waving your hands around while holding nothing (Natal).

Natal merely opens doors to use more limbs. Sony's controller is limited to Wrist/Arm movement. These claims of needing huge rooms for Natal is unfounded. Your bashing it for having the potential for further use.
