The 360's GPU is hardly highly advanced. It's pretty much an ATI x1900 series GPU. The x1*** series GPU's don't have programmable shaders. It wasn't until the next series that stuff like this became possible. The HD**** series. That is why the Xbox 360 can't accelerate Folding@Home with it's GPU. Because it requires a GPU with programmable shaders. Thus you can only use ATI HD2000/Nvidia Geforce 8800 and up series cards for it.
(On a side note, the reason it's GPU had support for...
Xbox < Xbox 360 < Xbox 720 < Xbox 1080 < .... Xbox 3958200
PS1 < PS2 < PS3 < PS4 < PS5 < PS6 < ...... PS54376894536
This is fun!!
Yeah..no. You may be too lazy and stupid to figure out card versions, but I'm not. I don't want my ability to choose to be taken away because of lazy people. If there was only 1 card from each company, then it would have to be a mid range performance card so it would be cheap. Now I can't get a high end card because of that.
You act as if all the cards are 100's of dollars. When in fact all the newest generation of cards are under $200 dollars, except the highest end one. The maj...
Well it's a CG recreation of him, and plus he doesn't have the makeup on.
Yeah...no.. Nvidia isn't that stupid. Just because they chose not to support 10.1 for so long, doesn't mean they wouldn't want to support any other upgrade that comes after. Nvidia has always adapted new DirectX versions quickly, 10.1 only had a few minor tweaks, so they didn't feel it was worth it. But DX11 is a lot more important, because it its a full version update, not a minor update.
OpenCL. And it's not a physics framework, it's just an open standard computing language for GPU's. Which would allow for physics programming on a GPU using (Open Computer Language).
Umm, they do have that lol. What do you think PhysX is for? Not physics?
And that's also what Folding@Home is for, it does physics calculations to advance understandings of medicine and other things.
I've never understood why people play these text based web games. They're so trivial.
@brianleppez:
You mean the weakness's that both Mac's and PC's actually have, but Apple skews to try and make it look like it's only a PC problem? Or the problems that are only a result of PC's being a huge install base, while Mac's install base is still quite small.
Mac's are like designer handbag's, the handbag's are made in cheap foreign factories just like cheap handbags, but the label on it makes it oh soo expensive :P.
That's only to attend every single event, on any days you want. Plus you can get that ticket for $400 if you purchase it before August 1st.
One would think a company that tries to tout itself as makers of "quality" products would have at least done a few day long stress test with the phone <_<.
Funny. This remix is still the best though:

There not going to be the best hand-held gaming platform once the ZuneHD comes out. Not because it's a Zune, but because it uses Nvidia's TEGRA platform. Which has a TON more processing power than the iPhone. It's capable of running Windows 7 and pretty good graphics. While at the same time being incredibly efficient, being able to listen to music constantly for weeks, or watch full 1080p video for hours. It's quite awesome.
*Not a Zune fan at all, just a TEGRA fan.*
There's no way in hell the iPhone would be more powerful than a PS2, or even come close.
Megahertz are hardly the best judgment of a processors ability. If it was, then ATI's graphics cards would be completely owning Nvidia's due to their much higher clock rate.
Yeah me too lol. 6 disagrees for a generalized statement? WTH?
This is a good sign. Good adoption of Windows 7 = good adoption of DirectX 11. (At least better than DirectX 10 was adopted lol.)
Sigh...
Let society become what it wants to be. If you went back 1000 years, and had people look at what society is today, they would say they don't want things to become like this either. It's all about ones own preferences, the society you grew up in. You can't imagine it changing so radically, and feel it's a bad thing because you don't prefer it.
Well technology will strip away some social elements, but only real life social elements. But truly is real life? Is not int...
@Mooey:
This is why males have nipples.
"From conception until sexual differentiation, all mammalian fetuses within the same species look the same, regardless of sex. In humans this lasts for around 14 weeks, after which genetically-male fetuses begin producing male hormones such as testosterone. Usually, males' nipples do not change much past this point."

I don't understand people saying that the OLED screen they are watching in an online video took their breath away.. Because your watching the video on your own monitor, thus the video only looks as good as your own screen can display it, not how good an OLED screen can.
Unless of course you have a CRT monitor, which have better color range, depth and contrast ratio than an LCD/Plasma, although much bulkier lol.
OLED screens are nice though, but you have to see it in per...
Nope.. It's because ray tracing a whole scene takes an epic amount of processing power.
I don't see why you think model detail has anything to do with ray tracing. Sure the more polygons, the more detailed. But it has nothing to do with ray tracing. Ray tracing is an algorithm for simulating how light works in real life. It only traces for how many pixels are on your screen (your resolution). So ray tracing a game like Quake 3 would still take an assload of power.
