Just because Metacritic or review sites rate some PS4 game as highly as a Wii U game, doesn't mean it provides an equally entertaining experience.
For example, DKC Tropical Freeze scored good all around- not exceptional, but pretty good. Many PS4/X1 games scored higher.

Mario Kart 8 is FLAWLESS, with the exception of the battle mode. Had they not bungled the battle mode it would be one of the greatest video games of all time. Hackett even may still be.

DKC is one of the greatest games ever made. I hope you enjoyed DKC Tropical Freeze as much as I did- for me it's on my top 5 list of all time favorites.
I'm pretty sure the two versions are intertwined at this point. If you're going to pay for a localization for one of them, then not using that to release the other would be a waste of money.

It's a fantastic game and definitely the pinnacle of the genre, but all those people citing "best game of all time" or "best game ever made" either have a biased agenda or truly need to broaden their gaming horizons

Good grief video games have been around a LONG time now! They still feel new though because they were new when I was a kid growing up. The NES was the first massively popular home console. I still feel like it's a brand-new medium but the truth is it's going on half a century!
