This game is beyond legendary. It's one of those "once a generation" type games. The kind that, if you're lucky, you see every 5 years or so. It's that good.
If I didn't own a Wii U, I'd have bought one just for Xenoblade X alone. Not that there isn't 10-20 other top-tier exclusives that are worth it anyways, but this one is an absolute must-play.

I'm pretty sure it's not episodic. In fact I know it's not, since SE clarified that each "part" would be a full release.
Basically, they're making it into a trilogy.

Don't you remember Operation Rainfall? That resulted in the localization of Xenoblade Chronicles in North America as a Gamestop exclusive?
Plus it was ported to New 3DS. So it's had a little exposure here.
Oh not me. I'm constantly charting new ground, always moving toward unexplored areas. I make planting probes my top priority, so that helps. I have just about every probe planted in Primordia and Noctilum, and I'm roughly halfway done with Oblivia and 10% through Sylvalum.

Just completed Chapter 6, the story is getting REALLY interesting now.

Waiting for NX does absolutely nothing to help you play this game. In fact all that will do is ensure you miss out on it.
BETTER OPTION
Buy a Wii U along with Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 2, and a half dozen of whatever 1st party titles tickle your fancy, and game the heck out with some of the best titles released in recent memory while you're waiting for NX.

I don't see this as "snubbing Microsoft". Snubbing MS would be intentionally going out of his way to avoid developing for their platform. But that's not whys happening. The only reason MS isn't getting his games is because Sony is their rival and won't allow it on any other console. He's about to be extremely well known come February. Easy to dismiss a character from a game you haven't played. But once Fates drops in the west the hype is going to get VERY real.
Awakening has now sold over 2 million and counting- physical only.
And Fates is already the 2nd best selling entry in the entire series, and it's only been released in one country so far. It will surely do 3-4 million lifetime sales globally.
